Sydney pubs that love your four-legged friends as much as your two-legged ones

Relaxing in a big Sydney beer garden with your mates is most definitely an afternoon well spent. What would make it even better is if you could bring along your real BFF! We take a look at some of Sydney’s best dog-friendly pubs so you can still hang with your crew – four and two-legged.

The Duck Inn Pub & Kitchen
4 Rose Street, Chippendale – www.theduckinnpubandkitchen.com

If the Sunday roasts and craft beers weren’t enough to tempt you – how about a pub that understands that man’s best friend is a dog? It’s not just the beer garden at the Duck Inn Pub that’s dog-friendly, with pups often allowed to join their humans in the laidback front bar as well, making it the perfect place to share a pint with your pooch on a rainy Sunday.

The Vic on the Park
2 Addison Rd, Marrickville viconthepark.com.au

At this huge inner-west corner pub, dogs are treated as VIPs. The huge mural outside says it all really, ‘the Vic on the Park is proudly dog-friendly’. The pub welcomes dogs in its large outdoor space so much so they encourage owners to post pet selfies with the hashtag #dogsofthevic. There’s also a $15 Doggy Members Badge Draw on Sundays at 3pm. There’s plenty on the menu to share with your canine companion or shoot hoops with your pooch on their full-size basketball court.

The Grand National
161 Underwood St, Paddington – www.thegrandnationalhotel.com.au

Let your dog decide where to settle down at The Grand National because they’re allowed anywhere in the front bar as well as outside. So many choices! With water bowls aplenty for your furry friend it’s a sign they have their priorities in order. Don’t leave without trying their famous pub fare – although be prepared to share with your friend by your feet.

The Beresford
354 Bourke St, Surry Hills  – merivale.com.au/theberesfordhotel

Pups are welcome in the courtyard at this Surry Hills local any day of the week, so you and your furry friend can head on down for some good eats and drinks. The folks at the Beresford love dogs so much they even host an annual event to celebrate all things doggo where you’ll find stalls selling doggie treats and accessories. There are even prizes for the most elaborately dressed pooch.

The Greens
50 Ridge St, North Sydney www.thegreensnorthsydney.com.au

Don’t worry, the best dog-friendly pubs in Sydney continue over the bridge as well. The Greens North Sydney is a lush urban oasis brought to you by the same crew who run the ever-popular Grounds of Alexandria. Animals of all shapes and sizes are welcome the Greens’ outdoor areas – as long as they’re on a leash. Did we mention the aptly named ‘Greens’ also has a functioning bowling green with spectacular views of Sydney Harbour?
