Chester the heartbreaker now a family man

Sep 20, 2021 | Success Stories

Chester was breaking the hearts of volunteers at Greyhound Rescue from Day One with his chilled-out attitude and his fabulously floppy ‘ear dos’. It’s been 10 months since this darling boy was matched with his pawrents Maddison and Luke and boy-o-boy has it been a success!

“Chester (also known as Chesty, Chestereno or Reno for short) is one of the most chilled out dogs we have ever met,” said Maddison.

“He loves spending his days alternating between beds around the house, with occasional donuts around our bedroom or laps of the backyard. He has a new-found love of chasing a ball, which he discovered when playing with our nephews one day and still loves his food – especially chicken!

“Without a doubt his favourite things to do are definitely laying out on the grass in the sun and of course his two daily walks.

“He always lets us know when he is ready to go for a walk! As soon as we open the drawer in the laundry that holds his lead he knows what we are doing and runs laps up and down the hallway until we are out the front door!,” said Maddison.

Chester has fit into the family perfectly and the family has experienced a number of huge milestones in their 10 months together.

“Since we adopted him last year he has celebrated Christmas, his fourth birthday and has become a big brother to our baby Harry.

“He has taken on the role of being a big brother amazingly. He is so gentle around Harry, sniffing him and licking his hands. He especially loves him now that he has started eating solid foods! We’re so excited to see their relationship develop and grow over the years.

“We tell everyone we meet how much we love Chester and how amazing greyhounds are. If anyone ever mentions that they want to adopt or rescue a dog, the first thing we do is encourage them to choose a greyhound. He is honestly the best and we are so lucky he was matched with us.

“The Greyhound Rescue adoption process was so thorough to ensure we were the perfect family for him. Everyone we communicated with was so lovely and helpful. 10000000% we will recommend Greyhound Rescue to anyone who is looking for a new member of their family.

“Thank you so much for bringing us, Chester! We’ve had a wonderful 10 months with him and can’t wait for many more!”
