Feb 14, 2020 | News

Every hound’s “Gotcha Day” is a cause for celebration! Why not celebrate like Joey and Elly Mae with a dog-friendly cake recipe that it not only tasty, it’s also safe for humans to eat too!

Pupcake Recipe

Ingredients

Cake

  • 1 large banana
  • 1/2 cup greek yoghurt
  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 1 egg

Icing

  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter (xylitol free please!!)
  • Honey to taste

Method

Mash banana in a bowl with a fork and mix with egg and yoghurt. Gently mix the flour through until just combined, if it is a too thick add a small amount of water.

Spoon the mixture into muffin tins and bake at 180 degrees Celsius for 12-15 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean.

Once the pupcakes are cool, combine the cream cheese and peanut butter, add honey to taste, and ice the cakes liberally.

You can decorate your pupcakes as creatively as you like for your special hound! We suggest using carob drops, dog biscuits, jerky, or whatever other treats your pup loves best. Of course, if you intend on sharing the cakes with your pups, keep the decorations human-friendly.

This recipe can be adapted to make a larger cake (as pictured), simply bake the cake mix for longer.
