Bjorn (on trial)

Hi there, I’m Bjorn. I arrived here at Greyhound Rescue in not the best condition but after loads of TLC here from the team at GR HQ I’m doing much better… you might say I’ve been Bjorn again even (hehe)! Because I had a rough start in life, I’ll be looking for an extra special home with an experienced family because I can be a little bit nervous about new things. Which means I’d love a home in a quiet neighbourhood with a yard where I can stretch my legs too. Otherwise, besides my special needs, I’m a very sweet boy and just a bit of a cutie with my little-upturned nose.

A note from Bjorn’s foster carer:

Bjorn has been with us for around four months now and he has turned from being a scared and timid dog who wouldn’t let us get close enough to pat him, into the most adorable, lovable, affectionate and playful boy. His favourite times of the day are when each of his humans return from work. He cries with excitement and after he gets a good dose of pats and love he takes off for happy zoomies around the yard before promptly taking his place on the couch.
He isn’t a needy dog, but he does love being around his people. He is very nervous of anyone new though, and it takes a while for him to warm up to them. He has been living with a three year old child and loves the company! Not just because he is easy to steal food from, but because they both enjoy running and playing in the yard together.
Bjorn hasn’t had too much experience with other dogs because he is quite frightened of the outside world so hasn’t been out and about a whole lot, but any dog he has met he has been fine with and showed no aggression towards them.
Since he is a very playful boy he probably would enjoy having another dog to play with, but he is currently completely fine being an only dog and just getting to play with his humans and squeaky toys! Oh, and he loves re-arranging things that are lying around, especially shoes and socks! Don’t worry, he isn’t a destroyer and we haven’t had anything chewed up, but sometimes we do have to look around to find a matching pair of shoes or where the other sock has disappeared to.
If you’re interested in adopting Bjorn the most important thing is patience. He takes a little while to come out of his shell and needs to be allowed to move at his own pace when it comes to building up trust, but the wait is totally worth it!
