It’s been 10 months since Cinder (formerly known as Jacinda) broke out of the Greyhound Rescue kennels and escaped to a new life of fun, family and endless love!
Her new mum Kirsten says she loves having Cinder as a member of the family.
“Cinder is very affectionate and playful, with a mischievous streak. She’s very clever at telling the time and she knows exactly when to start reminding us it’s walk time.
“If we don’t pay attention, she has a brilliant little trick of finding something special to us – a shoe or a book, once it was my phone! – and walking around with it in her mouth as a kind of bargaining strategy!
“She spends the rest of the day sleeping with her stuffed toys in my office, although she keeps an eye on me whenever I need to leave the room!
“When we first brought Cinder home, we set up her bed downstairs, not understanding how anxious she would be whenever we would go upstairs.
“For the first two days, she was too timid to complain, and we actually thought she didn’t know how to climb stairs because she’d just watch us go upstairs without trying to follow us. On Night 3, after the kids had gone to bed, she bravely came up the stairs looking for everyone and was so excited to find us, she started zooming around every room of the house! That was our first glimpse of the real Cinder.
“Cinder doesn’t much like being alone but because I work from home, she’s a great pet for our family. She is such great company throughout the day, and her walk schedule creates a great structure for me!
“I highly recommend adopting from Greyhound Rescue, as we had a lot of help and guidance on the path to being greyhound owners. Cinder was absolutely the right temperament for our family, and it’s been a joy to see her confidence grow and see how happy she is to be living with us.
