Cristiano
3 year old male
Olá!
It’s me, Cristiano.
In case you’re wondering — yes, I am named after a rather famous Portuguese footballer. And like my namesake, I’m tall, dark, handsome, and blessed with some pretty impressive athletic ability. My zoomies are legendary, and my speedy bursts and fancy footwork have been known to leave onlookers wondering if they’ve just witnessed a sporting highlight reel.
But off the field, I’m really just a big softie.
I absolutely love people and will happily seek out pats, cuddles, and any affection you’re willing to offer. I do sometimes get a bit excited when I first see my humans — it’s hard to contain my enthusiasm! — but I’m learning how to channel my inner calm. Turns out staying relaxed means I get even more pats, which seems like a pretty great system to me.
While I might look like a big, strapping athlete on the outside, inside I’m a gentle soul who lives for love and attention. Honestly, pats are my favourite thing in the world, and I’ll repay you with plenty of affection in return.
I’ve also been practising settling when left alone, and I’m doing really well so far. I might have a quick wander around the room and check what’s happening outside, but before long I’m perfectly happy to plonk myself onto the nearest comfy bed. (As a world-class athlete, I do feel it’s only fair that my bedding be extremely plush — Italian linen preferred, but I’m willing to negotiate.)
Playtime is another favourite pastime of mine. I love toys of all kinds — not just footballs — and my goofy, silly side really comes out when I’m having fun. I promise I’ll provide plenty of entertainment along the way.
I’d be happy to share my home with another dog, though I’d prefer a calm and respectful canine companion. Dogs that are very jumpy or right in my face can make me a little nervous, so an easy-going buddy would suit me best. Kids over 5 could also be a good match, as long as they’re kind and understand that I may need a little space and quiet while I settle into home life.
So if you have room in your home (and heart) for a statuesque, silly, snuggly sports star, I’d love to meet you. Please get in touch with the lovely team at Greyhound Rescue.
Big love, Cristiano x
