Volunteer Spotlight: David

May 20, 2024 | Volunteer Stories

It’s National Volunteer Week and we’re celebrating the many wonderful people who give their time, dedication and love to help the hounds at Greyhound Rescue.

Introducing David. He first heard about GR through a friend who was already volunteering and loves working with like-minded people to give these wonderful dogs new lives as beloved pets. This is something David has done himself – he’s proudly added Mindy to his family.

“I heard about this gentle 8.5-year-old girl with suspected kidney disease who had been a pet for 6 years but now found herself needing a new home after 3-4 stressful temporary placements,” David said.

“My heart went out to her so I applied to adopt her and luckily, the matching team felt she was a good fit for me. It took her about 12 months to come out of her shell, but she is now the most delightful 10.5-year-old hound and her kidneys have been fine. I adore her.”
