It’s been almost a year since James (formerly known as Dwight) and his dad Corey locked eyes across the yard at Greysland. In that time, James has transitioned seamlessly to pet life and apartment living (he was even featured in a great piece on furry friends adopted during the pandemic)!
Corey has kindly shared some thoughts on adopting James and what life is like sharing an apartment with a 34-kg hound!
“James (formerly known as Dwight) has settled into inner-city life remarkably well. He’s the most gentle boy who loves nothing more than following me everywhere I go.
Although he’s very patient with other dogs, and particularly loves meeting his own kind at the dog park, he’s far more interested in those strange hoomans!
His favourite thing? It’s a toss-up between devouring ice cream and walkies anywhere. He also loves balls – but more to chew and destroy than to catch.
Although its only been six months since he’s been around, it’s already hard to imagine life without him. I honestly feel like I won the greyhound lottery with James; he’s barely put a paw out of place and has become part of the family in no time.
Everybody loves him – and he’s constantly complimented on his handsome looks. He’s even received dog modelling offers!
I only wish I’d adopted him sooner – its the best decision I’ve made in a long time! Although not every adoption story is probably as smooth as ours, I really appreciated the time taken by Greyhound Rescue to find the perfect match.”
