Pilot Finds The Perfect Landing Spot

Feb 23, 2026 | Success Stories

Pilot the greyhound is a very happy boy, especially so after finding his forever home with Laura. We checked in to see how Pilot has settled into his new life, and it’s clear that he has landed on all four paws.

“Pilot is a really calm and happy boy,” says Laura. “He brings a lot of peace and happiness into the home.”

Generally happy chilling on the couch with his human, Laura says Pilot’s excitement is on full display when she walks through the door, breaking into the zoomies. Laura also says Pilot has the extremely cute tendency to walk his head into your chest for a hug when kneeling on the ground.

But of his new life experiences, Pilot thinks his walks are the best of all. “Particularly,” Laura explains, “if we are going somewhere new. If Pilot finds new smells, he makes happy noises that sound like a pig snorting!”

He’s also a bit of a socialite.

“We live near a pub, so when Pilot goes out for his nighttime toilet break, we pass the pub. Pilot has made countless friends with the tipsy patrons… he will even stop his walk to wait to see if anyone is leaving and might give him a pat.”

Laura says that Pilot has fit into life with her perfectly.

“I am so grateful to Greyhound Rescue for how well they matched us.”

“Adopting Pilot was the first time I was adopting a dog on my own… I had an amazing adoption manager who checked in on us regularly throughout the trial and was available to answer any questions or talk through any feelings I was experiencing.”

“Having this support was amazing and made the adoption process much smoother.”

“Whilst adopting any dog is a big decision and should be considered carefully, if you are adopting a dog, absolutely go for a greyhound. They are such beautiful, gentle and calm dogs and make for the best company to have around.”
