Yogi The Greyhound

Dec 9, 2025 | Success Stories

Loving with a little bit of a sneaky streak, Yogi (fka Apollo) was introduced to pet life with Michael, Leona and family. He loved it so much he stayed put!

When Yogi found his forever home with Michael and Leona, he also found two fur siblings – Bear and Maxi.

Michael says that “Yogi was part of our family from day one, he loves our other two dogs Bear and Maxi.”

“Yes, we now have two black and white cow dogs called Yogi & Bear,” laughs Michael.

“Yogi is so compassionate and loving, he is funny but a little sneaky,” says Michael. “His favourite thing to do is to go for walks around the duck ponds.”

Yogi’s journey to pet life involved learning how to do stairs.

“Out of all our greyhounds it took Yogi the longest time to learn the stairs,” says Michael. “… eventually he got it with the help of Schmackos – so my advice is to be patient.”

Michael says that when he and his family first adopted a hound, they thought “greyhounds would need lots of exercise and take up a lot of space in the house.”

“This is so far from the truth,” he says. “Greyhounds sleep more than koalas – they can also curl up small when they are not sleeping on their backs – that is in the dead cockroach position.”

“I think Greyhounds make fantastic pets… they are such beautiful dogs.”
