Frankfurt hit the jackpot when he was matched with pawrent Christine. Despite some initial hiccups, Frankfurt has settled into his forever home and we are pleased to say both are loving their new flatmate. Read more about Frankfurt and Christine’s journey below.
Tell us a bit about Frankfurt!
Frankfurt is a friendly and curious hound that enjoys sniffing all the sniffs, eating anything that could possibly be considered food and soliciting pats from anyone that might be convinced to give him one.
What is his favourite thing to do?
Apart from eating and snoozing, his favourite thing to do is to corner me on the lounge for tummy rubs. And chase squeaky balls so that he can wander off and squeak them to his heart’s content.
Frankfurt has exhibited impressive problem-solving skills in overcoming barriers to him, particularly jumping on my bed and the lounge. He spends significant time scoping the problem, trialling different approaches and implementing a successful solution that allows him to enjoy the fruits of his labour.
How has Frankfurt fit into your family?
Frankfurt has become an integral part of my life, getting me out and about and meeting people around the neighbourhood.
That’s not to say it’s all been sunbeams and rainbows. Frankfurt had a bit of a learning curve with stairs, still likes to pinch things, and has a degree of sleep startle. But in all of these cases, our adoption coordinator, the online Greyhound Rescue groups and the information available on the Greyhound Rescue website were invaluable resources in addressing these issues. Every time I went to Google to find advice, a link to information about my issue on the Greyhound Rescue website was one of the top search results.
What would you say to someone thinking about adopting a greyhound?
I highly recommend to anyone considering adopting a greyhound to give it a go. While it’s been a big adjustment getting a flatmate, it’s been more than worth it. I really enjoy seeing Frankfurt happy with pet life and just having fun.
One of the best reasons to adopt from Greyhound Rescue is the matching process that assesses the potential home environment and the needs of the hound in an effort to find a good fit for every dog. In our case, Frankfurt was a great match for me and my living situation and I hope that I’ve been a good fit for him.
