Greta the Goofball

Aug 22, 2025 | Success Stories

The lovely Greta, formerly known as Kennel Kid Gretchen, found her forever home with Michael and Alva. Life for Greta these days entails all of her favourite things, including roaching in the sun, munching on grass during walks, and getting pats from all she meets.

Michael says Greta is a “big goofball”. Tentative when approaching new things, but adapts quite quickly.

“Her tongue tries to escape her mouth at any opportunity and she especially loves squeaky toys to throw around,” says Michael.

“Greta took a while to get used to her new lounging spots, and in particular the beanbag. It’s taken a while but now she’s honed her skill and will roach on it and even uses it as the squeaky toy dissection zone.”

There was some adjusting for all when Greta first came home with her new pawrents, but Michael says remembering the 3-3-3 rule was extremely helpful.

“It was an adjustment at the beginning as we all tried to adapt to this big change and we weren’t sure if we were ready,” Michael says. “The 3-day, 3-week, 3-month rule was very helpful and Greta has really settled into the routine and she’s now providing an excellent WFH buddy.”

Great would initially counter surf, and had a tendency to chew anything in reach. She has now diverted her chewing skills into ripping cardboard open for chicken.

Michael says that being able to extend their trial to give themselves and Greta more time to settle and get used to each other was invaluable.

“In saying that, it’s been extremely rewarding and we couldn’t imagine not having her in our home now,” says Michael.
