Like his endearing Sesame Street namesake, the adorable Cookie Monster has an insatiable appetite. He’s simply swapped cookies for chicken and lots of love in his forever home with Eloise and James.

Cookie has found his stride in his new home with Eloise and James, and despite his larger size they say he is the most gentle of good boys.
“Having looked him up he was quite a successful racer and was built like one too,” explains James.
“We often wonder how he was so successful – as he is so sweet, gentle and placid. For such a big boy he is always courteous about his size and never goes in too strongly to say hello.”
While generally quiet, Cookie did surprise his pawrents during one particularly stressful episode, when he released the dreaded GSOD (aka Greyhound Scream Of Death).
“He was screaming bloody murder. We rush into the room to discover he had got himself partially tangled in a sheet. What a traumatic experience.”
James says there was an adjustment period when they first took Cookie home, but with time and patience everything just clicked.
“I’d never had a big dog before (oodles in the past) and Ellie was used to larger dogs (boxers, labradors etc), so it was an adjustment for me personally having such a big animal in the house,” he explains.
“Transparently I was not 100% certain after a day or two, needing to adjust to having such a big strong dog around. After about a week or so, we started to hit our groove, and we couldn’t imagine our life without him. Coming home to his wagging tail and teeth chattering brightens your day instantly, and he’s such a pleasure to walk. He’s now the CENTRE of our life.”
James and Eloise couldn’t recommend adopting a greyhound more.
“Do it – we don’t regret it at all and they are just the best house dogs. They love their walks as much as they love the lounge. They are gentle, sweet and overall very caring. The opposite of what their big, muscly figure portrays.”
“Cookie has been such a great addition to our little family and has made all aspects of our life better.”
