Volunteer Spotlight: Lex

Mar 13, 2024 | Volunteer Stories

Volunteer Lex first heard about Greyhound Rescue at a pet store in Annandale in 2017.

“GR were having a fundraising bbq and I wanted to come and meet the ambassadogs,” she said.

Lex soon realised she’d found her people – and her hounds. “I signed up to volunteer straight away and the rest is history!”

She now helps organise some of those GR fundraising events herself.

Lex has to think hard to recall her most memorable hound. “That’s a tough one! I’d have to say Marshall, who some will remember from Rouse Hill days! He was my favourite at kennels and when he was adopted, I made friends with his lovely ma! Marshall still remembers me and always jumps into my lap for a cuddle,” she said.

According to Lex, the most rewarding part of volunteering is seeing hounds flourish in their forever homes. “They often come to us broken, sad and in need of love so it makes me so happy to see them finally getting to live the life of love they deserve!”
