Taco brings light, love and laughter

Aug 10, 2023 | Success Stories

With time, love and a place to call home, funny boy Taco has come out of his shell, revealing his curious, affectionate and playful self.

When Alex and Bronte first adopted Taco, he was gentle and a little bit timid.

“It’s been a growth experience for all three of us,” says Bronte. “Taco has gradually adapted to the good life…while we’ve learnt a lot about greyhounds and how special they are.”

“We’re learning to be the best pawrents we can and make his golden years extra golden.”

He found walks a little bit scary for a while, with Bronte and Alex remembering one particular walk when it all became too overwhelming for Taco.

“We hadn’t had Taco very long when he had a freezing episode. After half an hour of standing in the rain, Alex had to carry him home.”

“We’ve learnt a lot since then… never leave home without high value treats!”

Some of Taco’s favourite things to do include “sleeping in his papa’s home office, meandering sniffaris, car rides, trips to Bunnings and snaffling roast chicken when he can get it”.

“Taco just loves it when we give him a cardboard box filled with treats – it’s the best thing ever!”

Bronte and Alex say Taco has fit into their home perfectly, bringing with him light, love and laughter. They say that while rescuing a hound may not always be easy, it’s absolutely worth it.

“There are so many dogs out there that need a home. By adopting a greyhound you’ll be giving a beautiful doggo soul a second chance to live, love and be loved” says Bronte.

“They also make an ideal choice of pet as they are gentle, don’t usually need a lot of exercise, hardly ever bark and don’t usually shed (much)”.

“Greyhound Rescue does such a wonderful job. We felt supported every step of the way. They put a huge amount of care into what they do and we’re so grateful.”

“An added bonus has been the doors opening to a whole greyhound community – there are a lot of wonderful greyhound owners out there. Everyone is keen to connect, share stories and offer support. It’s great to be a part of it.”
