Bluff Reserve – Hound-Friendly Walks

Jun 22, 2023 | Hound-friendly walks

Bluff Reserve in Glenbrook is a gem in the lower Blue Mountains. It also makes a fabulous place for a scenic walk with your hound!

Where & How Long: Bluff Reserve is located in Glenbrook in the lower Blue Mountains, approximately an hours drive from Sydney. There are two lookouts you can walk to, Bluff & Chalmers, both approximately 150 metres from the carpark. You can also complete the Dark Commons bush walk, a longer option. It is a 45-minute return trip and approximately 2km in length.

On lead / off leash: Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. There are steep unfenced cliff edges in some sections to be aware of.

For the hounds: While the walks are fairly easy, they are uneven and steep in parts. If your hound can cope with a combination of flat track, some rock hoping and some steps, they’ll be fine to complete the walk. Note that there are no poo bag stations or bins along the walks.

For the humans: You can find parking at the end of Brook Road, Glenbrook – a dead end. There are two covered picnic tables within a short distance from the carpark, a nice spot for a rest after your walk.

Nearby you’ll find the Glenbrook Village Town Centre, a great place to grab a coffee and a bite to eat. There’s also the trendy 2773 café, a dog-friendly location, plenty of boutique shops and the dog friendly Rotary Market. This is held on the 1st & 3rd Saturday’s of every month from 8am – 1pm.
