A Sterling Silver Success Story

Mar 31, 2023 | Success Stories

When Sterling joined Youi’s family, the prince formerly known as Sir Lancelot was welcomed with open arms, and many, many treatos.

Sterling loves food. He loves, loves food. In fact his favourite things in life are to “eat, eat and go on pack walks, in that order,” says doting parent Youi. He’s such a foodie that he even loves lemons, “despite most dogs disliking citrus fruits.”

“We assumed if we fed Sterling’s dinner first, he’d be satisfied and too full to beg for food afterwards. The problem was that this assumed Sterling had a finite stomach capacity: he would sing us the song of his people like a starved Victorian child in protest that we had something in our mouths and he didn’t. We now know better, and feed him at the same time as dinner so he doesn’t feel left out.”

Between meals, Sterling loves to be at the front of pack walks. Youi says “I like to think of Sterling as the popular kid in school; easy-going, smart, patient and handsome. He is equally up to chill in his bed as he is for an adventure and learns new things quickly with the right motivation (treatos).”

Sterling is Youi’s first dog, and he has taken “centre stage” of their home, “soaking up the love and food like a little prince.”

Youi would absolutely recommend adopting a greyhound, “not only are they one of the most suitable breeds for modern life once settled in, there are heaps of greyhounds in need of forever homes from the racing industry. They don’t bark much, don’t shed as much as double-coated breeds and don’t need huge amounts of exercise. They are also very adaptable and resilient as some of these hounds have never seen the outside world beyond racing.”

“Greyhounds are underrated and misunderstood; given the chance, they would make a wonderful companion for anyone.”
