¡Hola! It’s me — Rafa!
I’m currently taking a well-earned break between “matches” at the rescue centre, so thought I’d pop by to tell you a little about myself.
Like my famous namesake, I’m tall, dark, handsome, and built like an athlete. I’m a champion ball-chaser, though I must confess I’ve yet to master a racquet (turns out opposable thumbs are quite important… who knew?).
After a big zoomie session, I love nothing more than a refreshing dip. Pool time is my absolute favourite — especially when the weather heats up. No need for anything Olympic-sized though; I’m extremely skilled at folding my long legs into a kid’s paddling pool or any suitably splashy situation. I’ve also conquered stairs, which I consider a career highlight right up there with my “grand slams”.
I’m an independent kind of guy and happiest co-existing alongside my people, doing my own thing. That said, I’m no wallflower — I do enjoy pats and affection, just on my own schedule. Oh, and toys? I love them. Chasing them, carrying them, squeaking them… toys are life.
As I’m still learning the ropes of pet life, I think I’d do best as the only dog in the home. I could happily live with gentle children aged 5 and up, as long as they understand that sometimes I need a quiet space while I settle in and recharge my batteries.
