Sweet Oscar was one of our longer term kennel kids before he found his perfect home with Fiona and Michael down the south coast. He even found himself two fur siblings, Lady and Boomer. Now, he’s earned the title of the cuddly clown in the family.

“Oscar has slotted into the family well,” says Fiona. “The country life suits him.”
Oscar loves his life with his two fur siblings, and they can often be found having a run, sniff or explore together around their big backyard. The three of them also like to test out their vocal prowess with a morning sing along.
He quickly taught himself to use the stairs and dog doors, loves a cuddle and to explore in the garden – particularly the vegetable patch! He’s happy to get in and help with the gardening too – in particular with the digging of holes.
He’s also very inquisitive and “has to investigate everything that is bought into the house – from grocery bags to toolboxes”.
He doesn’t like to be kept waiting, and you can expect a nose up your derriere when he wants you to hurry up. For example, being too slow to open the gate is not acceptable!

There were some teething issues early on, with some miscommunication between Oscar and one of his fur-siblings.
“We initially had issues with the interaction between Oscar and our other male, Boomer (mostly due to both boys misreading each other’s actions),” Fiona explains.
“The advice given by Greyhound Rescue in how to manage this set us up for success, included the use of muzzles and separation when unsupervised. Without this, things would not have gone so well. Now both boys are very relaxed around each other.”
The family still makes use of muzzles when needed, a great tool to keep everyone safe during play time.
Fiona says she would recommend a greyhound to anyone.
“Huge personality, very affectionate and gentle. Easy to train – you won’t regret it.”
“Greyhound Rescue were brilliant at matching us with Oscar. The follow up support that we received was great. It was nice to know that there was someone that we could call with questions that we had.”
“Oscar has definitely found his ‘happy place’ and we love him to bits. He is such a character – from his floppy ears to his skinny rump. We could not have asked for a better match.”
