Vaughan is an energetic bundle of joy

It’s been six months since Kennel Kid Vaughan left Greysland to live with Tal. Vaughan quickly settled into pet life in his new home.

Most greyhound owners know the joy of coming home to the happy face of their hound. Tal is no exception. And for Tal, it’s Vaughan’s style of greeting that is one of his most hilarious characteristics.

“One of his funniest traits would be the way he is always bounding up and down at the door every time I come home like a kangaroo” says Tal. “He then runs around in circles sneezing once I’m in the house.”

Tal describes Vaughan as “an energetic bundle of long legs and joy”.

“Vaughan loves attention so having family home is great as he zips around getting pats from everyone” says Tal. “He generally has his left ear flopped down while the other is pricked up, kind of like Peter Rabbit” says Tal.

It turns out Vaughan also loves his walks, and he’s not shy in coming forward when they’re late.

“He is very fond of walkies, so much so that he can be quite vocal of a morning if I’m too slow getting up!

Vaughan’s other favourite thing? Adventures in the car. According to Tal, there is nothing more entertaining for Vaughan than the window down, his “cheeks and tongue flapping away” in the breeze.

Vaughan did have sleep startle when making the transition from kennel kid into pet life. While Tal was prepared for this to be something they would need to manage long term, he is happy to share that these days Vaughan rarely startles.

To anyone thinking about adopting a Greyhound, Tal recommends it.

“I would say it’s probably one of the best things you can do… they are such kindred spirits and such loving creatures.”

“I would recommend Greyhound Rescue to anyone, but particularly first-time adopters. They take all the stress out of the process and help you every step of the way. They try their best to match you with the right Grey for your lifestyle, property and personality.”

“I can say that Vaughan is 100% exactly the kind of dog I had in mind.”
