Sprout “unlike any other dog”

Apr 23, 2022 | Success Stories

Greyhounds have all sorts of personalities, and Sprout, a little pocket rocket who was adopted by her forever family in early 2021, is no exception. The only way her family can describe her personality is ‘BIG’!

“For such a tiny girl, she has the biggest personality and constantly makes us laugh,” says Maya.

“She is a collector, a snuggler, a sleeper, a zoomie fanatic, a puppy-dog-eyes professional, and is very sassy.

Some of her more amusing antics include doing zoomies in the stairwell of the apartment, cooling her paws in water bowls she finds out and about and picking up toys lost by babies on the street (that she then carefully carries in her mouth all the home).

Like many rescue dogs, Sprout was very anxious when she was first adopted. She didn’t know how to use stairs, couldn’t be left alone and was too stressed to eat properly. With a lot of patience, love and some medication, she has made amazing progress.

“She is becoming more and more comfortable and affectionate every day,” says Maya.

“Her warmth is our favourite thing about her. When she wants affection, she will make sure to squeak like a mouse, which is why we sometimes call her ‘mousey sproutsy’.

“Sprout brought our family closer together and was great company during lockdown, especially when she joined in on online school.”

Maya says adopting a greyhound was a big task, but it has been worth every minute.

“Sprout has been the best addition to our family and makes us so happy. If you are considering adopting a greyhound, definitely do it.

“The team at Greyhound Rescue are so supportive and lovely when you adopt, and are always there to answer your questions.
