Positive reinforcement is key to force-free training, but it can be a bit tricky when your hound is wearing their muzzle. At Greysland we use BBQ chicken or plain cooked chicken when working with a muzzled hound as it is pliable and easy to work with, as well as being high value.
The technique shown in the video above ensures easy, timely delivery of the treat. Simply place the chicken in your hand and cup your hand up underneath the basket of the muzzle so that your hound can pull the treat through. It’s easy once you know how! Practise with your hound at home before you try it out and about.
