Nicole Kidman (Cat Tolerant) (Homed)

“My name is Nicole Kidman (maybe that should be Kidhound…never mind!) and I am a happy  girl that is ever so pleased to meet you. With my sleek physique  and red fawn coat I’m told I am just as stunning as my namesake.I am I would be an excellent model and I’m so good at posing that it won’t take me long to be a star!  I am very friendly, sociable with other doggies, and I passed my cat tolerance test too, so I have potential to live with kitties. I am looking for a home where I can practise my poses and ensure the sofa doesn’t fly away.”

Huckleberry (Homed)

Huckleberry is kindly sponsore by Nicola & Anna.

“My name’s Huckleberry and I am one of the coolest houndies you will ever meet. I hear there is a story called the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn but I would like to write my own book called the Adventures of Huckleberry Greyhound. What I need is someone to help me write that story, and maybe we could even try some adventuring too. You don’t have to be a Mark Twain, just someone who wants to enjoy exploring everything life has to offer! I’m only young after all and there is lots to see and do and people to meet. I’ve already had one adventure at the pound and I didn’t like that very much, I’m sure there are much more fun places to be! I’ll just sit here a little bit and spend some time with volunteers at GR and when you’re ready to go adventuring you come find me. Wait…did you say you’re ready? What are you waiting for, let’s go! Urgent Call for Adopters and Foster Carers

Greyhound Rescue is FULL and overflowing! At the moment we have no available room in our main kennels or with our foster carers. Our overflow boarding kennels also have no space. The emails and phone calls don’t stop coming though – particularly this time of year coming up to Christmas when the pounds are full too and dogs cannot wait. As is usually the case we also have surrenders waiting to come in.  We desperately need more kind souls who are ready to adopt a greyhound or to foster,or we cannot save more. We know it is a tough ask with Christmas just a few short weeks away and many will be busy with lots of social engagements or travelling and unable to help , but if you are ready for the commitment to adopt or are available to foster you will save a life this Christmas. To find out more about our foster and adoption process please go here or send an email through to and our volunteers will be in touch shortly.

Brutus (Homed)

Brutus’ foster carer says: “He’s a very relaxed, calm, mellow boy with lovely manners. He’s very polite with new people, and he takes his cues from them whether they want him to come closer or not (which is good, because he’s a big boy and not everyone is initially on board with bouncy enthusiasm). Once he’s confident that his presence is welcome, he’s very cuddly and affectionate and definitely a “leaner”, putting all his weight on your legs and just relaxing! But he’s not a “velcro dog” who needs to follow you around all day, and is content to lay and watch you move around the house, go into other rooms, etc. He traveled well in the car, has good manners on the lead, and can entertain himself with his toys outside as well as responding very enthusiastically to play. He’s clever and responded very well to learning commands. He has been around a 10 month old baby and was a perfect gentlemen. ”

Morrison (Homed)

Morrison is kindly sponsored by Rose.

“I’m Morrison and I came in to GR with my brothers Jagger and Hendrix. Just like them I’m young and full of spirit, life will never be boring with me by your side. They say I’m a bit of a wild child but I’m full of grace -I must have got just too distracted by what life has to offer to be a racer!   What I’m after is somebody who has the same zest for life as me and understands I’m still just a baby really that needs somebody to guide me  with walks in the park, a few toys, and lots of love.  I heard there are these things called sofas that are just the thing for greyhounds, but I’ve never been in a house and I would really like to try one out – I love new experiences! A lot of people will overlook me because I’m just another black greyhound looking for a home, but if you are the one who can see that I’m young and full of potential please please get in touch with the volunteers!”

Nathan (Homed)

Nathan is kindly sponsored by Sarahann & Hadley.

“Hi I’m Nathan and I’m a very friendly and handsome boy. I am told I am a complete natural in the modelling business and with the right agent I’m sure I could land on the cover of GGQ (that’s Gentleman Greyhound Quarterly y’know!) I mean, just look at me, I don’t have just one good side – they’re all cute! I need someone to help me on way to the lifestyle to which I hope to become accustomed. Some new neck bling would be good, a smart jacket for the winter and perhaps the latest in onsie fashion? A couch to rest on from all this modelling work is a must, and don’t forget a short walk each day to make sure I keep in this fine physique! If you are interested in me or any of my greyhound friends waiting for homes contact the volunteers”

Sox (Homed)

Sox is kindly sponsored by Katrina & Rogan.

“I’m Sox…a red Sox actually hehehehe. Just my little joke, I’ve got nothing to do with baseball but I’ve got plenty to do with lounging around! I would love a home where I can be pampered without those small fluffy dogs or cat things, and I really prefer not to be bothered by tiny humans. It’s just so hard being the centre of attention but somedoggy’s gotta do it and it might as well be me!” contatct for more information on Sox or any of our other houndies waiting for a home.

Joshua (Homed)

Joshua  is kindly sponsored by Mali !

“I’m Joshua and I am a very handsome boy looking for my perfect match. I am better looking that Josh Groban ; I have more charisma than Josh Hartnett ; and I’m more entertaining than Josh Thomas.   I am one of GR’s most handsome fellas, I just have some very specific criteria for my perfect match so it’s taking a little longer to find my soul mate. You know, I really need to have a TV show all of my own perhaps I should get in touch with The Bachelor people! I’m looking for love!

I am nice and clean in my kennel (house trained people!), give excellent kisses (hellllllo ladies), and enjoy a brisk short walk to keep up my fine physique (I’m an adonis what can I say). I prefer a home where I am the centre of attention, as once you have fallen in love with me I can assure you your heart can’t be given away to anyone else! Just to persuade you a little more I’m a Christmas child, and I would dearly love to be in a home all of my own as a birthday and Christmas present. If you think I could come and curl up on the sofa with you get in touch with the volunteers”
