Paris (Cat Tolerant) (Homed)

Who could forget Paris?! Not us!

“I’m Paris and I’m as elegant and chic as my city namesake. I may be 8, but I’m an active sprightly girl looking for my forever home. I’ve lived in kennels my entire life, and I’m looking for somebody that will look past my silver muzzle and give me the quality of life I’ve more than earned – the volunteers tell me I’m unforgettable, and a real sweetie.  I may not have the quantity of life to give you that the young pups do but I will give you love in bucket loads. I’m very gentle, a bit shy, and I’m good around other dogs and children. I’m looking for a chaise longue to call my own and stretch my elegant black body out on, a lap to rest my head, and cordon bleu dinners for houndies. But truth be told, I’m happy with a home that has any old sofa and good dinners – as long as its warm and comfy and filled with love. If you think you can open your heart and home to an older girl like me please get in touch with the volunteers at GR info@greyhoundrescue.com.au”

Pearl (Homed)

Pearl is kindly sponsored by Edina & Matt.

“I’m Pearl and I arrived at GR with my sister Biscuit. I’m only four years old and I’m as precious as my name. I am very playful, I’m just learning all about soft toys and boy are they the best thing ever! I’m looking for a home without small fluffies because they get me all excited, kids over 5 are ok, but what I’m really looking for is a family that likes to be in the kitchen. You see, I fancy myself as the first Greyhound Masterchef and I’m learning all about it by being helpful. I like snarfing…I mean taste testing ingredients, and I’m very good at clearing bench space.I have been told I’m very good at takeaways,  and if you let me I’ll even wash the dishes (ok, so some people might not like dishes cleaned by a greyhound tongue but I’m very thorough!). If you’re a chef looking for an apprentice, or even just want someone to appreciate your culinary skills I’m your girl! Get in touch with the volunteers at Greyhound Rescue to find out more about me info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Biscuit (Homed)

Biscuit is kindly sponsored by Macha.

“I’m Biscuit (or Bikkie) and I’m as sweet and scrumptious as my name. I am a bit shy but once you get to know me I’ll love you forever. I like snuggling and chilling out on my bed, gentle quiet walks, and playing with doggie friends. I’m ok with older kiddies, not too fond of cats, and very good with other dogs my own size. I’m looking for a family that has a zen garden (or even a zen lounge will do!) where I can have my quiet space. If you like I can teach you my favourite yoga move – I’m very good at downward dog but I’ve yet to learn the roach position (it’s like the lotus position but more complicated…). My other hobbies include taste testing, bowl cleaning, and when no one’s looking I like to live on the wild side and go counter surfing (shhh don’t tell anyone). If you think you have the perfect home for me for foster or forever please get in touch with the volunteers at GR info@greyhoundrescue.com.au”

Emerald (Homed)

Emerald is proudly sponsored by Christine!

Emerald is not only the clown of the class but super smart. She needs a family that will keep her busy with walks, games, and toys.  Emerald would be best in a home with children over 7 as she has such a happy go lucky attitude she may bowl them over!

Emerald had the misfortune of having part of her tail amputated due to an injury but don’t let that deter you. She is a beautiful shiny jewel just like her name and her personality is the shiniest bit! She loves cuddles, belly rubs, and rolling in the grass. She loves people to bits, but is not cat friendly and is also not good with small dogs.

If you would like to foster or adopt this jewel  we would love to hear from you. Please contact us directly rather than in the comments so we can answer you as quickly as possible: info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

  • 5 years old
  • desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested and treated

Ralph (Homed)

Ralph is in foster in Wagga, and this is what his foster mum has to say about him:

Ralph is a gentle and clever boy, a bit older and wiser, and therefore
very quick to learn. He’s a big boy and quite handsome, with his glossy
black coat and white toes and throat, big dark eyes, and very silly
floppy ears. He’s got an easygoing, confident personality, and likes
meeting new people. He goes nuts for his squeaky toys and can entertain
himself quite happily with them. He soaks up attention like a sponge,
and is always happy to lean against your legs and cuddle. Things he
loves most: zoomies and playing fetch in the back yard, snoozing in a
sprawl across his comfy bed, being brushed, and gazing up at you
adoringly while you pet him.

Ralph has lovely lead manners, although he pulls slightly since his
stride is so long. He gets a bit anxious when he’s separated from you,
but he still remembers his manners and doesn’t climb on furniture while
your back is turned. He’s slightly more energetic than some greyhounds
and definitely loves to run if he gets a chance, although he still
prefers to snooze his days away.”

Ralph is:

  • DOB 20.06.09
  • Desexed, microchipped, heartworm tested and treated
  • Located in Wagga
  • Adoption Cost $350
  • Not cat tolerant
  • Potentially small dog tolerant
  • Child friendly (over 5)

Bruno (Homed)

Bruno is kindly sponsored by Teresa.

“Hi I’m Bruno and I love to zip around the yard playing with my new toys! The volunteers have been teaching me to play catch and I can’t believe that I’ve been missing out on! I might be big and black, but please don’t hold that against me, I’m a very good boy with plenty of personality, I just need somebody to want to get to know me. Just maybe, if you like a game of backyard cricket, I could be your fielder? I hear that some families like to do that – are you one of them? You are?! Well get in touch with my manager…I mean the volunteers! I could be the next sports hero lying on the couch at your place! Contact info@greyhoundrescue.com.au”

Titus (Homed)

Titus is kindly sponsored by Jade.

“Hi I’m Titus and I’m named after a Roman Emperor doncha know… my nose would make a pretty good profile on a coin if I do say so myself! I’m only a baby still –  energetic, fun loving, and playful – but true to my breed I’m pretty nifty at lounging around as well. What I need is somebody in search of adventure – I like looking for buried treasure in the runs and if I had my way I’d be out looking around a whole lot more. The trouble is, I’m in this pesky place called kennels. I’m very grateful to GR for saving me, and I love all the volunteers, but I would really like to get out. Kennels are no place for a young boy like me to finish growing up in. I would probably be better with kiddies over 10 as I am quite a solid boy, but I would work very hard to please you.”

If you would like more info on Titus or any of our patiently waiting hounds then please contact us info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

  • DOB 13.7.13
  • Desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested and treated

Annie (Homed)

Annie is in foster with Kimberley and family:
Annie is:
  • 5 years old DOB TBC
  • Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested and treated
  • Located in Sydney
  • Not cat tolerant
  • Adoption cost $350
“Annie is a timid 5 year old red-fawn girl who is slowly learning to come out of her shell. She’s had a bit of a rough start to life and has some nasty scars on her body, but we think this just gives her extra character. Besides, look at that pretty face! She’s a quiet girl and would suit a single person, couple, or family with older children. Due to her past, she is really needing some rest and TLC in a calm home where she can relax and have her own space from time to time. She’s very good with being home alone during the day and as long as she’s had a walk and given a bone or something to keep her occupied, she’s fine to be alone during the 9-5 shift. She’s also very well house trained and usually only needs to be let out 2-3 times a day. She’s also just learnt to navigate the staircase!
Annie is just starting to get more curious on walks, is eager to go to new places and doesn’t get as startled by people as she used to. She still freezes from time to time when she gets a bit nervous, which is her way of saying “it’s time to go back to the couch now!”
She’s meeting lots of dogs and is playing very well at off leash dog parks. She gets on well with dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes, however if she were to live with another dog she would suit a house mate with a calm energy who is past the puppy stage. She’s very accepting of pats from strangers and has gotten used to having lots of people over at one time.
She’s a quiet lady of leisure and really just likes to cuddle on the couch. She loves to be patted, stroked and cuddled and really enjoys being brushed with a grooming mitt. While a bit of a couch potato, she’s slightly more energetic in the morning and in the late afternoon which is when she likes to go for her daily walks – she only needs about 15 minutes per walk before she’s ready to go home! She’s still learning how to play and likes to chase the ball on occasion, however once she gets to it she usually gives it a puzzled look!
Annie is a gorgeous girl with a kind soul who really deserves a comfy couch and lots of cuddles for the rest of her life. If you’re after a kind hearted and gentle companion who’s easy on the eyes, look no further!”

Gus (Homed)

Gus is a big sooky boy that needs somebody who cans see past his size and into his loving heart! He is excellent with children, and his foster carer Belinda writes:

“Gus is living with myself, my husband Gavin and sons Jack 9 & Charlie 7.

Although Gus is a huge 40kg he is a big softie who loves attention and enjoys playing with his toys.

In between sleeping he is often following us around waiting for a cuddle and loves to lean against you whilst doing so.

Gus gets on great with our Greyhound Missy and has been friendly with everyone he has met.

Gus walks well on the lead only pulling slightly probably due to his long stride.”

  • desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested and treated
  • adoption costs $300 ($350 from August 1st 2014)

Fergus (Homed)

Fergus is currently in foster in Canberra, and this is what his foster carer says about him:

“Fergus is a grand old man of 10.  He may a bit slow and unsteady on his feet sometimes, but when he bounds over to greet you when you come home, his smiley face and waggy tail just melt your heart.  If you need or want somebody to snooze the day away, Fergus is your man.  A little bit of exercise keeps him happy (and he is well behaved on the lead), but his favourite activity is chilling out.  He is used to his foster mum being away for long hours at work. He can “hold” for hours overnight, and loves a sleep-in on the weekends. ”

If you are interested in Fergus please contact us info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Fergus is:

  • 10 years old
  • Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested and treated
