Terence (Homed)

Terence is kindly sponsored by Nicole.

“My name is Terence and I’m a pretty cool dude looking for a forever home. I love to play in the yard with the toys and zoom after the ball, but in my opinion balls are for humans to throw and me to chase, if I brought it back to you, you wouldn’t have much to do now would you? I’m always well dressed in my glossy black coat, and I don’t want to blow my own horn here people, but I make plenty of ladies swoon! If you want to have everyone stop and stare at the best dressed dog in town (oh, and you of course) then you need to contact those nice people at GR and get them to set us up on a date! info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Terence is:

  • DOB 16.12.12
  • Desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested and treated
  • Located in Sydney

Grace Kelly (Homed)

This is what Grace has to say about herself:

“My name is Grace Kelly and I came to GR at 16 weeks old with pathological (that’s a very big word for a baby greyhound) fractures in my back legs! I am now a 10 month old puppy with a healthy life ahead of me. Because I’ve been a long term foster until my little legs grew and recovered, I’ve had lots of TLC from two foster families who have had their own dogs as well as other fosters in and out of the house. As a result I’ve been very well socialised with dogs of various breeds and sizes, and my foster families say I am growing into a well- rounded dog. I’m used to living with lots of company, so I’m very adaptable.

I have been learning Come! On Your Bed! Stay! Look! And Leave It! but I’m an independent girl that knows my own mind so I still need a bit of convincing to do what I’m asked (my foster mum says it’s called Training but I like to think of it as Treating hehehehe).

I’m looking for a forever home that might have a friend or I will get very lonely if you are at work all day. Both of my foster mummies say I would benefit from having an older (and bigger dog) dog boss me around (well that’s what they think anyway! I’ll just let them think I’m bossed around…)

I have been getting various treatments to rehabilitate my legs, including visits to hydrotherapy with Sharon at K9 Swim. I love water – when I was only very very little I liked to launch my whole body into the water bucket for a drink, but now I’m bigger I can’t quite work out why this doesn’t work anymore so I have to make do with putting my whole head in instead! Life will never be boring with me!”

Grace is as elegant as her namesake but hidden behind that sleek physique is a cheeky little kleptomaniac who can often be found roaching away with her collection of soft toys, as well as her foster parents’ belongings (socks and undies are her favourite!). She is outgoing and playful, affectionate, and loves to snuggle, you can’t help but fall in love with this little lady.

As she is still a puppy and has a very determined and independent personality that has got her through the knocks of her early life, Grace will need a family that has the time to commit to reinforcing her dog manners and ongoing training. She is compatible with children over 10, and small dogs. To continue to live with  very small dogs Grace will need the right introductions, ongoing supervision, and reinforcement.

If you think you have the right palace…erm, we mean home…to fit her royal highness, or have any questions please contact us info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Grace is:

  • 9 months old (DOB 12.6.14)
  • Located in Sydney/ Blue Mountains
  • Adoption cost $400
  • Desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested and treated
  • Not cat tolerant
  • Small dog tolerant
  • Child friendly (over 10)

Calling for fosters and funds!

image

Greyhound lovers, we beg for your help. Due to the recent airing of Four Corners we are under the most pressure we have ever been under, to take surrendered greyhounds. Our inbox has been flooded and phones have not stopped ringing.

WE WANT TO SAVE THEM! We are desperately begging for foster carers and donations to help us build more kennels on our new property to enable us to take more surrendered greyhounds and to be able to pay private boarding kennels to reduce the amount that trainers or owners may feel they have to euthanise.

Any donation small or large would be greatly appreciated or if you can foster in NSW please email info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

AccountName: Greyhound Rescue Inc
BSB: 012289

Share the greyhound love!

image

In the light of the recent horrific documentary that aired Monday night on Four Corners regarding the live baiting cruelty, we would like everyone to share this beautiful photo shared by greyhound lover Tasha. Thanks Tasha!

From birth, greyhounds are born to make money. They are trained (and not in the basic obedience sense), kennelled, blooded (as we found last night) and then either abandoned, surrendered or euthanised.

There are many of us who deal with the aftermath of their ‘career’ and we can tell you firsthand – greyhounds are special. What other breed can be put through such a lifestyle and snuggle up to humans, kiss children’s faces, walk nicely on the lead, rarely bark or show aggression, become therapy dogs or even service dogs and on many occasions – live in harmony with small pets?

We won’t stop promoting this wonderful breed and we hope we have your support. Thanks for being there with us!

She gets on well with other dogs and will respond well to training as she is quite fond of the tuckerbag!

If you would like more information on Phoebe or any of our other hounds patiently waiting please contact us info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Quinn (Cat Tolerant) (Homed)

Quinn is a small black boy with the most expressive cute ears. He needs a bit of TLC to get out his “kennel coat”  and yummy sardines to give it some shine. He is quite shy and will need a family that understands he will need time to come out of his shell, but with a bit of patience you will be rewarded with the love of a most beautiful soul. He is the sort of dog you just want to hold forever and spoil to bits, whoever adopts him will be one lucky family!  He gets on well with other dogs of various sizes (but he does fancy himself a bit of a ladies man) and is also quite happy to live with a cat. He is a bit shy around noisy small humans but if he is given space and privacy he would live happily with understanding children.

If you are interested in Quinn or any of our other hounds to foster or adopt please contact us for more information info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

  •  DOB 16.2.12
  • Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested and treated

Baxter (Homed)

Baxter is kindly sponsored by Sue!

“Hi, my name’s Baxter and just because I don’t look like a cookie cutter variety greyhound everyone keeps thinking I’m a cross! But I promise I’m all greyhound I just like to make everyone take a second look at me. I’m not that keen on small dogs or those kitty cats, but I know there’s plenty of people that don’t like those much either – are you one of them, we could be buddies?! Kids over 5 are OK by me if you have any of those at your house. I was lucky enough to get saved from the pound by the folks at GR because I found it a stressful place! I’m a pretty happy go lucky kinda guy, and I’m looking forward to being in a family that will take me out for car rides and walks and make me forget all about it.  I would like a home where I could hang out with some people and get lots of yummy dinners and maybe if I’m very good an odd treat or two…just sayin’ (*wink wink*)! If you think I could come to your house and be the happiest dog in the world you need to get in touch with the volunteers at GR!”

  • Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested and treated
  • Located in Sydney

Mary (Cat Tolerant) (Homed)

There’s something about…Mary! This lovely lady is a quiet soul who through no fault of her own has found herself in our busy overflow kennels and is unsure of what is happening to her. She seems to be quite gentle and we can’t wait to see her come out of her shell. We would love some of our longer residents at our main kennels to get busted out so we can move Mary and many others over to our main kennels so the volunteers can get to know them better. If you are interested in fostering or adopting please contact us info@greyhoundrescue.com.au so we can help find your perfect match!

Mary is:

  • approx 5 years old DOB TBC
  • desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested and treated
  • Located in Sydney
  • Not yet cat tested
  • Adoption cost $350

JC (Homed)

JC is kindly sponsored by Jeannine & Greg!

“I’m JC and I am loveable lump of a greyhound in search of my forever home. Don’t be put off by my size, there is just much more of me to love and I am light on my toes! I am a gentlemanly fellow with plenty of charm and charisma. I have been told with my impressive good looks if I was a human I would have been a star of the silver screen. If you could imagine me a Clark Gable kind of chap looking for a leading lady I’m sure you could understand how I make all the lady volunteers swoon! I would prefer a home without smaller dogs or felines as they would only cramp my style, but if you’re looking for a hound looking for some one to enjoy the finer things in life with  contact my agents…I mean the volunteers info@greyhoundrescue.com.au”

JC is:

  • DOB 21.11.11
  • Desexed, microchipped, heartworm tested and treated
  • Located in Sydney
  • Adoption cost $350
  • Cat Tolerant: No
  • Small Dog Tolerant: No

Jill (Homed)

Jill is being sponsored by Alan. Thank you.

Jill has gone into foster care in the Blue Mountains with Jo!

Jill arrived with her brother Jack and is about 3 years old. Jill might be little in stature but she is big on bounce! She has lots of energy and is very playful and funny- she obviously missed the memo about greyhounds being lazy… Maybe it has something to do with her nursery rhyme namesake, or maybe its just Jill, but she loves buckets of water!  In the warm months she not only splashes about in the paddle pools but tries to do the same in her water bucket, so Jill is the only one who has two in her kennel – one for sploshing her dainty paws in and the other for drinking! She loves people to bits but is a bit wary about other dogs. It would be best if she was the only dog, and definitely not withcats. If you think you might have enough water and buckets to keep Jill happy, and a nice comfy couch to stretch out on please contact us!

Jill is:

  • 3 years old (DOB 6.1.11)
  • Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heart worm tested and treated
  • Not cat friendly
  • Located in Sydney
  • adoption costs $350
