Hi, I’m Banjo!

I’m a gorgeous 3-year-old black boy with a big heart, a sensitive soul, and a tendency to express my feelings by leaning my entire body weight against the nearest available human. I really love my people. Pats, cuddles, company…yes please! I’m affectionate with the people I know, friendly with visitors, and very happy to make new friends when I’m out and about too.

I love a zoomie, adore my stuffed toys, and will happily entertain myself with treat balls, sticks, or the important work of shredding a paper bag into approximately eight thousand pieces. I’m also a big fan of food, which is very useful when it comes to training. Cheese is particularly persuasive. Ice cubes also rank surprisingly highly.

And I actually know quite a lot! I’ve learned cues including drop, wait, crate and quiet. Whether I remember all of this when something VERY EXCITING is happening is another matter, but I’m clever, food-motivated, and keen to learn. I just need someone who will keep helping me practise the art of thinking before acting.

I’m still just a young pup, so I can be wriggly, excitable, and occasionally a bit ridiculous! I can be strong on the lead, and occasionally another dog appears and my legs decide we should launch ourselves skyward before my brain has been consulted. I’m a friendly boy rather than an unfriendly one, I just need some help learning that not every exciting thing requires my full-body participation.

I’ve previously lived happily with a mini dachshund, and we had great fun playing together, so I can certainly enjoy canine company. Cats, however, are not for me. I found them far too tempting to chase, so my future home will need to be feline-free.

Once I’m settled at home, a rather different Banjo emerges. I’m beautifully chilled out and relaxed, confident with stairs, reliably toilet trained with access to a small courtyard, and I can cope with being left alone for a full working day. So despite all my youthful exuberance, I know how to switch off too. I’m also great with children (over 5 is best) and have lived very happily with teenagers before.

I’m looking for a forever family who will love the whole Banjo package: the big leans, the goofy enthusiasm, the zoomies, and the very sweet boy who just wants to be part of the family. Could that family be yours?
