Drax The Charmer

Oct 10, 2023 | Success Stories

Full of charisma, an aptitude for naps (naptitude) and charm, Drax and Imogen are the perfect pairing.

With a name like Drax, how could you not love him? Imogen, Drax’s doting paw-rent says “Drax is a charmer”.

“He seems to make friends with other people and dogs of all types wherever we go. He usually stands quietly while the people he meets give him pats and he greets dogs with a big tail wag and sometimes they get a sniff. I have met a lot of people in my neighbourhood thanks to Drax’s quiet charisma.”

With a lifestyle that includes many naps, car rides and cafes, not to mention some quiet cuddle time in the evenings, Drax has grown comfortable in his routine.

“Drax is a creature of habit. Not long after I got him we went for a walk without his muzzle and he found a dead possum he wanted to bring home…his muzzle went back on for walks. I didn’t realise that I was teaching him that he wears it for walks but when he goes in the car (we have a basement car park in our building) he leaves the apartment without it.”

“We went to visit my parents in Melbourne at Christmas and for the first couple of days I kept trying to take him for a walk. We would just stand at the car door and Drax would completely refuse to go for a walk. About three days after we arrived I saw a greyhound walking with a muzzle and something clicked. I went back to my parents’ place and got his lead — he got excited as usual — and then got his muzzle out of the car. He went crazy and as soon as it was on happily trotted down the street!”

Despite being accident prone and possum obsessed, Drax has slotted perfectly into Imogen’s life.

“It’s just me and Drax in our household. He is definitely the boss of the house…He’s pretty chilled. He is fine being left alone when I go to the office and sleeps most of the day when I work from home. On weekends we usually go out on a little adventure.”

“I feel like Greyhound Rescue took the time to understand my lifestyle and how a dog would fit in before they matched us. It was a perfect match! The support I’ve had from GR to settle him in and tips and ideas has been amazing.”
