Greyhound Rescue, an ethical rescue charity just an hour south of Sydney’s CBD, is seeking a dedicated individual to become our Kennel Attendant – Shift Leader. This exciting opportunity involves working 24 hours per week with a dynamic and diverse team, making a real impact on the lives of greyhounds.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a Shift Leader, you’ll play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Rehoming Centre. This includes managing kennel volunteers, handling intake processes for incoming dogs, and overseeing the medical status of our furry friends. YOUR BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:
To excel in this role, you’ll need to lead a team with varying levels of experience and thrive under pressure in our busy Rehoming Centre. Your passion for excellent standards of care, rehabilitation, and rehoming is essential, as is your commitment to ethical animal rescue practices and positive reinforcement techniques.
Skills and qualifications required:
- Qualifications in canine behavior/assessments/training/rehabilitation or equivalent experience
- Qualifications in animal care such as Cert 3 in Companion Animal Services or equivalent experience
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively within the team
- Strong leadership and excellent people skills
- Basic computer literacy and effective communication skills
- Current driver’s license (manual driver advantageous)
- Experience and confidence working with large-breed dogs
- Knowledge of animal first-aid and basic medical care
- Ability to lift 20kg
- Willingness to work weekends and flexibility to fit within a changing roster of shifts
