Vader a quiet, cuddly ‘one in a billion’

Jul 28, 2022 | Success Stories

Vader (formerly Avocado) had a whirlwind stay at Greysland, spending only a fortnight in our care in August last year before we identified the perfect family for this shy little girl – Danielle, Chris and Oliver.

Danielle says Vader loves cuddles with her older but much smaller fur sister, Daisy, an 18-year-old Lhasa Apso. “She’s such a placid girl. We haven’t had any issues with the two of them and resource guarding, feeding, sleeping arrangements – any of the things I was stressed about before we adopted Vader.”

“Her favourite things to do include playing with her squeaky toy, running around the backyard and digging gigantic holes in the grass that we are trying to grow. I think she sees me gardening and that she’s just trying to help!”

While Danielle says Vader fit perfectly into their family, she understood from Day 1 that they needed to be patient with this quiet little girl.

“She’s still a little shy. We love ‘trying’ to take her for walks, but it is still a work in progress. She will only go walking if we take her in the car first,” laughs Danielle.

“She’s one in a billion, that’s for sure. She walks out the back door backwards and downstairs sideways!

“If you’re thinking of adopting a greyhound, I’d say do it. Don’t delay. There’s a special hound for everyone and they are truly a one-of-a-kind, beautiful, amazing addition to your world.

“Vader is home and safe with us now, where she should be – where ALL greyhounds should be!”
