Pillow brings a whole new meaning to the word ‘lazy’

Jun 30, 2022 | Success Stories

Meet Pillow, a four-year-old rescue greyhound who loves good company, car rides, and soft toys!

This darling girl her forever home in August 2021 after a short three-week stay at the Greyhound Rescue kennels. A little lady with a beautiful, gentle personality (and a generous dollop of silliness!), she was a breeze to place with a loving family.

Enter Danielle and Patrick!

“Pillow has fit into our family so well we can’t remember life without her!” says Daniella.

“She’s made herself right at home, and we’ve learnt to understand her little communication quirks. She tells us when it’s time to wake up, when it’s time to go for a walk, and recently, when her night light wasn’t working.

According to Daniella, Pillow brings a whole new meaning to the word ‘lazy’ and has taken over all of the softest surfaces in the house.

“That said, her short bursts of energy and zoomies are something to behold! Her favourite thing to do is zip up and down the hallway with a toy for 2 minutes before retiring to the couch, exhausted.

Pillow’s favourite things include sardines (she will often take them out of her bowl to eat them on the couch – gross!) and people! “She loves people so much that walking past strangers on the street makes her tail wag, and getting all the pats and attention makes her day,” says Daniella.

“There’ve been some funny times when we realise Pillow’s seeing things for the first time in her life. The first time she saw an ibis, I’m not sure who was more scared!

“I’d tell anyone thinking of adopting a greyhound to absolutely do it. They’re such beautiful creatures with so much love to give.

“The first few months of settling in take lots of love and patience (we’re working on separation anxiety now as we start to go back to the office), but sharing your time and effort is one hundred per cent worth it. They’re great pets and even better company.”

“Since we’ve adopted Pillow, we’ve also become Help a Hound sponsors, so other greyhounds can get the care they need to find their forever homes, just like Pillow.

“We’re incredibly lucky to have Pillow in our lives; she’s taught us patience, kindness, compassion, and above all, why being silly is the only way to be.”
