
It’s always fun to celebrate with your pupper, but did you know that many of our favourite Easter treats like chocolate and hot cross buns are a big no-go for your hound? They’re toxic and should definitely be kept well and truly out of their reach. If you want to make an Easter-themed special treat for your hound then look no further than our dog-friendly carrot pupcake recipe!
INGREDIENTS
Pupcakes
2 cups self raising flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup sweet potato, boiled and pureed
2 eggs
1 tablespoon coconut oil
2 tablespoons peanut butter*
1 tablespoon of honey
3 medium-sized carrots, grated
Icing
250gm cream cheese*
1/2 cup peanut butter*
2 tablespoons honey
*Always make sure that you are using ingredients that are xylitol/birch sugar free as these are poisonous for dogs
METHOD
Preheat your oven to 180°C and line your muffin pan or tray with paper cases. Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl, then all add of the remaining ingredients and mix gently until just incorporated. Bake for 20 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. While the pupcakes cool, mix the icing ingredients well in a small bowl. Ice the pupcakes and garnish, we’ve used SavourLife Sweet Potato treats and some gold leaf.
