In October 2020, gentle giant Travis was lucky enough to find his forever home with Mick and Wanda. A happy, inquisitive hound who loves chicken and meeting new people, he’s taken pet life in his stride.
“He has a habit of sticking his nose into someone’s butt he’s just met! You should see the look on some people’s faces,” said Mick.
“A good laugh for sure but everybody who meets him uses the same word – beautiful!
“He makes a laugh – a lot. He likes to greet us when we get home by doing ‘wizzies’ around the yard. Other times he gets out of bed completely draped in his blankets and walks around looking like some sort of weird ghost.”
Mick says Travis fits their family and lifestyle perfectly.
“He has a custom-made winter coat and a customer-made raincoat. We even bought a large SUV to chauffeur him around in!
“He’s never alone for more than a few hours at a time but has showed no signs of separation anxiety.
“My advice to anyone considering adopting a greyhound is to do your homework. They are a bit different in their needs to other breeds of dogs we have owned – most notably, Travis loves twice daily walks (whether we feel like it or not!), he needs people companionship and we really need to watch his diet.
“Having done your research, if you think you are in a position to own one of these beautiful hounds, DO IT!
“Travis is a very well-behaved, happy and loving hound and we are so lucky to have him in our family.”
