It was a short stay at the Greyhound Rescue kennels for darling old girl, Nessie. She was in one door and out the other with her fantastic new dad, Mark.
Mark says what surprised him most was how quickly Nessie adapted to pet life.
“For an old girl with a harder life before now, she has adapted amazingly quickly. She’s meeting all kinds of other dogs, children, adults and so on, and she remains very relaxed and peaceful,” he said.
“She loves being cuddled and petted and becomes incredibly excited whenever its time to go out for a walk, but otherwise, she is extremely chill.
“She’s not much of a licker and is pretty unmotivated by food compared to most other dogs I’ve known – she is, however, INCREDIBLY motivated by sniffing things! She is fascinated by all the smells around her.
“I live on my own and Nessie has been a wonderful companion during the months of lockdown, and she continues to be so.
“To anyone considering adopting a dog, I would say a greyhound is a really good “beginner dog”. Nessie is very independent and she’s equally happy doing her own thing/sleeping as she is getting pets and going for adventures outside!”
