Every Greyhound Rescue success story has us smiling and fist-pumping for our beautiful houndies and their furever families. It’s not often they have us blubbering – but Noodles’ story is an exception.
Noodles (formerly Bae) came to the Greyhound Rescue kennels in November 2019. A beautiful boy with shiny black fur, he was the toast of kennel-town and a favourite with a number of our vollies. Unfortunately, Noodles had a couple of placements that didn’t work out, but that didn’t stop our team from constantly being on the lookout for Noodles’ perfect family.
Enter Kieran and Bart. They took Noodles home in the morning on Easter Sunday. By Sunday night, Noodles had bunny ears on his head, a big smile on his face and the love of his furever family in his heart!
“Noodles literally couldn’t be a more perfect fit to our family. He comes everywhere with us!” said Kieran.
“He doesn’t bark. He hardly sheds and doesn’t smell. If it wasn’t for his enormous body sleeping everywhere, his little whine and the footsteps following us around; you’d hardly know he was here!”
“He is beautifully bossy; he talks to us to “remind us” that we haven’t fed him quick enough or haven’t walked him early enough. He is fun and loves to play with toys, do zoomies, and chase us around the house.
“We took Noodles to the beach in the first few weeks of having him. From what we knew at the time, he’d never seen the ocean before. He was so excited, he made a beeline for the surf and jumped straight in!
“He ended up neck deep in the water – all we could see were the tips of his ears.
“He came out soaking wet, covered in sand, wagging his tail with the biggest smile on his face. It was hilarious!”
According to Kieran, Noodles came into her and Bart’s home at a particularly hard time in their lives.
“My partner Bart had recently lost a business and his job during COVID. I am an emergency nurse, I was nervous about my future and what my work life was about to become.Bart’s mental health was struggling and I couldn’t give him the time I wanted to, as I was working more. Noodles saved us.
“Noodles gave Bart something else to focus on. Making sure Noodles felt part of our family and ensuring he felt loved was the most important job that he could do. It was the perfect distraction.
“We owe so much to this beautiful dog. We will never be able to repay him, but we hope that by giving him the best life he could have is surely as close as we can get.”
“Greyhound Rescue were just amazing. We had no idea what kind of dog would suit our lifestyle, but they helped us to find the perfect dog for us!
“They were also so helpful during our adoption period – I had a text everyday asking how Noodles was settling in. They provided reassurance and gave us feedback on how to care for a rescue hound. I couldn’t fault them and have encouraged people to contact them for their rescue!
“Thank you again Greyhound Rescue for saving our baby!”
