We’re so excited to announce that Greyhound Rescue has taken home the award for ‘Outstanding Rescue Group’ at the 2020 Jetpets Companion Animal Rescue Awards, a national program which celebrates and recognises achievements in the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of companion animals Australia-wide.
The ‘Outstanding Rescue Group’ award recognises organisations that have made a positive impact on animals in their care.
Greyhound Rescue President, Nat Panzarino said she is so proud of what we have been able to achieve with the help of our volunteers and supporters.
“We’re so honoured to have been named Outstanding Rescue Group this year,” said Nat.
“Our team is just so phenomenal, it’s so lovely to get that recognition.
“So often rescue work is a thankless task. I’m glad that everyone’s hard work and dedication has been acknowledged in this way.
“We rely on a volunteer workforce and on donations to fund what we do and believe me, we manage to do some pretty incredible things on a shoe-string budget! Our aim is to be leaders in the field and always keep animal welfare at the centre of what we do,” said Nat.
Our wonderful volunteer team was also recognised with two finalists, Shelley Tinworth and Margot Undercliffe, in the ‘Volunteer of the Year 2020’ category. From an impressive and very competitive pool of finalists, our incredible Volunteer Coordinator, Shelley took home the award.
“Shelley being named the Volunteer of the Year 2020 is a testament to the absolute fire-cracker that she is,” said Nat.
“Shelley works incredibly hard for our organisation, coordinating shifts at the kennels, recruiting and training volunteers, conducting home visits with potential adopters and looking after the hounds while they await their forever homes.
“She is such an asset to the Greyhound Rescue team and its wonderful to have her commitment and endless enthusiasm recognised. The Greyhound Rescue family are incredibly proud of her achievements!” said Nat.
We want to congratulate the other finalists and winners, and say a huge thank you to Jetpets, their partners, supporters and judges of the 2020 Jetpets Companion Animal Rescue Awards. These awards shine a light on the huge number of people who dedicate their lives to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals Australia-wide. We’re so proud to be part of this wonderful industry.
