Greyhound Rescue is proudly teaming up with Polite Pooches Sydney to offer a unique course for greyhounds and their humans. Leanne from Polite Pooches Sydney has extensive qualifications and years of experience, honing her greyhound-specific skills by working with some of our kennel kids, she has worked with hundreds of greyhounds and is highly recommended in the rescue greyhound community.
“The course also provides details on Greyhound assimilation into domestic life, and insights into how and why new greyhounds do what they do. The better you understand how a retired working dog thinks and why they do what they do, the easier it is for you to modify or build on what you have. GO Training is a common-sense approach to training.” says Leanne.
Feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive. Course participant Angela says her hound Delores enjoyed the experience “Delores and I got so much out of completing the GO training course. The instructors Leanne and Cassie were very knowledgeable and patient. Delores can be a little anxious and they were very patient with us both, as I was nervous too. As well as learning how to better understand Delores’ needs, I have built a lovely bond with her that grows more as we continue our training at home. Learning the reward-based training method has been fun and also effective. Both Delores and I are more confident.”
The course has been intentionally designed for greyhounds and their specific needs using a force-free approach. It runs over 4 consecutive weeks and is hosted at our Rescue Centre, Greysland. Your hound is an active and willing participant in the training, through co-operation, teamwork, and understanding using positive reinforcement – showing your hound what you want and how to succeed.
