Snoopy’s Story

Feb 13, 2025 | Success Stories

Snoopy, formerly known as Snork, has transformed from a hound terrified of his lead to one who runs around in excitement for five minutes when he sees it! Suffice to say, he is living his best life with his new family.

Pawrent Luke says Snoopy runs his new home, jokingly calling him the ‘first pancake’, the first ‘fur-child’.

“He is a timid boy until you get to know him, but his personality is excitable, cheeky and loving, with the sassiest side eye! His favourite thing to do is sleep on the couch with two (or more) pillows propped up for his head or one of his favourite toys.”

Luke says he and his partner have loved watching Snoopy “overcome his anxieties, opening up and becoming more playful and loving every day”.

“From a dog who used to be terrified of his lead to the most excitable dog as soon as he sees it.”

“We have to wait five minutes for him to bounce off the couch and zoom through the apartment before we can actually put the lead on! And then when we do get down the stairs, he’ll jump over halfway down, nearly taking us with him!”

Luke says anyone thinking about adopting a greyhound should “be ready for the fun, the love and the absolute joy of adopting a greyhound.”

“It tested us in every way we could have imagined but it only made us love him more. Don’t be disheartened by the two steps forward, one step back, and sometimes three steps back. It takes time and love.”

“We do not regret getting him for a second but we do advise people to be prepared for the time and energy a rescue takes.”

When asked if they would recommend people adopt a greyhound, Luke says yes.

“Give some beautiful hounds an opportunity to be the lovable goofballs they really are. Greyhound rescue were incredibly supportive in the adoption period and we are grateful for their support and matching us with our boy.”
