Gentle giant Solly has been in his forever home for over a year now, spending his days with his family, enjoying long naps and going for adventures. His pawrents, James and Calvin, say he’s calm, curious, and sweet as sugar.
“Solly has fit in with us well, loving our early morning starts and 9pm bedtime!” says James.
“Solly didn’t like going for walks for a long time and would freeze within a 50m radius from our house. Now, thanks to walking with his many pals, he can’t get enough of them!”
“He is normally very calm, even for a greyhound, but when he knows that it’s nearly walk time he can’t contain his excitement! He loves to sniff anything and everything and will normally sniff around independently in the dog park.”
Solly loves people, whether it’s hanging with his people, welcoming visitors or visiting the local pub!
“Solly loves wondering into our local pub and may even freeze if we don’t go in with him!” laughs James.
“We love to entertain at our place, and Solly loves welcoming guests at the door with a windmill tail and approaching them during the day for mandatory scratch tax.”
The goodest of boys, Solly has no qualms with letting James and Calvin trim his nails or give him a bath.
During his time in his forever home, Solly has learnt that other dogs aren’t too bad, particularly those on the smaller side!
“Solly was also afraid of any dog that was not a greyhound, particularly smaller dogs. Now after meeting a wide range of friendly dogs big and small, Solly now gently approaches most with a waggy tail, a calm interest and a good sniff.”
James and Calvin say “Solly has truly enriched our lives” and found the “ongoing resources for how to look after your new family member” to be invaluable.
They credit the application coordinator support and Greyhound Rescue Facebook group and the information available in regards to “observing and dealing with Greyhound behaviours and meeting new people to walk with, take advice and share stories.”
