When Brian and his wife first met Flo, they were both looking forward to a long and happy relationship together. Flo settled in wonderfully from day one, and her loving and affectionate personality quickly shone through. Sadly though, this time together would not be as long as they had hoped.
“Sadly my wife passed away three weeks after we brought Flo home,” says Brian.
“Even though Flo had only known her for three weeks I could tell how much she missed her.”
Six months later, Flo and Brian have developed a great friendship. Brian affectionately jokes that Flo is a wombat, thanks to her incredible love for digging.
“I thought it funny at first the digging of holes in the yard, but soon realised that someone at Greyhound Rescue must have told her she was a wombat not a dog”, Brian says.
“She digs holes a family of wombats would be proud of, I try to tell her she’s a dog but I don’t think she believes me.”
When she’s not assessing the soil health in Brian’s backyard, she loves to play with her squeaky ball, doesn’t mind a bit of a snooze, and some treatos here and there.
Brian says while he and his wife had dogs their whole lives, “Flo must be if not the best, by far one of the best we have ever had”.
One of the best things about adopting with Greyhound Rescue, Brian says, was knowing there was always assistance available when he needed it. He also found the knowledge and support within the online community group to be invaluable.
“From the initial application to the home visit and the meet and great etc, the follow up with my adoption coordinator is great,” says Brian.
“They are just a phone call away for any information required.”
