At eight years young, the beautiful little Mindy found her place with our long-time volunteer David.
Mindy had a different start to pet life when compared to most of the hounds that come into our care. She started life as a pet in a home at a young age, where she happily lived until her owner unfortunately moved into aged care. She soon arrived at Greyhound Rescue, looking for her next person (and couch!). That person was David.
“My family consists of one human and, at the time Mindy came to us, two other dogs – a German Shorthaired Pointer and another Greyhound” says David.
“Greyhound Rescue ensured that the three dogs were introduced to each other carefully and monitored for any signs of conflict/discomfort.”
“Mindy has fitted in really well… she quickly made herself at-home cuddling up with my other dogs. So cute!”
When Mindy isn’t busy with her favourite past times of chilling, napping and lying around close to her human, she enjoys a walk at the park and a play with her toys.
She also has the very important role of a Delta Therapy Dog, visiting a special-needs primary school once a week.
David doesn’t hesitate to recommend others adopt a hound of their own.
“Do it. They’re the best,” he says.
But he believes it’s important to ensure you find a hound suited to your home.
“Greyhound Rescue has a rigorous matching process to ensure that the dog is well suited to the environment they are going to” says David.
“This is not as common as it should be across pounds and other rescue groups.”
