It’s that special day of the year again. Maybe you’ve been looking forward to it for the last 365 days. Maybe you remembered last night? Either way, we’ve got you covered with five excellent ways to celebrate your hound’s Gotcha Day.
1. For those who want to get the family involved
Baking your pup a lovely birthday treat is a super fun way to celebrate and get the whole family involved. Not only can you bake it with lots o’ love, it can be tasty, nutritious and their reaction makes for excellent content on your social pages. Check out some great Greyhound Rescue approved pupcake recipes here and here.
2. For those celebrating on hot days
Finding the perfect treat on a hot day can be hard, but a pupsicle is a super fun way to celebrate your hound’s Gotcha Day, particularly if the weather is steamy. Let them celebrate and cool off in style with these great recipes, yummo!
3. For the busy bees among us
If you want to do something special that’s less time intensive, why not buy your fur baby a new toy to play with? You can get an array of toys including enrichment treats like snuffle mats and wobble bowls all from our shop here at Greyhound Rescue. Not only will you be spoiling your pup, you’ll be helping all the Kennel Kids at Greysland who have yet to find their forever homes!
4. For those not so sure
The sceptical among us might be asking why bother with a Gotcha Day celebration at all (blasphemy!), but there are a ton of low key ways you can show your pup a little extra love on their special day. From taking them on their favourite walk or sniffari, to giving them a Lickimat full of their favourite treats, spending a little extra time with your four legged family member never goes astray. Yes it’s their Gotcha Day, but it’s also your pawrent anniversary. Marking this milestone will be a memory you can cherish forever.
5. For the extroverts among us
Why not go all out and throw your hound a birthday party? Invite all of their best friends to your house, or a nearby park, and let them celebrate together. You can decorate! Have delicious food (for humans and pups alike!) and commemorate the day with all of their loved ones. Who said parties are only for humans? Not us!
