Known for its soft and approachable style, word on the street is that you can’t go past a good Merlot. That was certainly true for Ashleigh!
Kennel kid Merlot left Greysland to live with Ashleigh just over six months ago. It was all a bit strange for him in the beginning, and he wasn’t quite sure what to make of it.
“He was very nervous and unsettled when he came to live with me” says Ashleigh”. “He wouldn’t even get out of the car when I brought him home!”
“Now after lots of love, work and quiet time he’s such a different dog.”
In the past six months, Merlot has made a bit of a name for himself in his local community. Namely for his sense of fashion, and of course his serious good looks.
“He’s become well known throughout my suburb for his killer fashion sense on his daily walks” says Ashleigh.
Merlot enjoys a pretty relaxed lifestyle these days. Whether he’s snoozing on one of his four beds, enjoying a snuffle mat or a snuggle on the lounge, Merlot has certainly embraced pet life.
“He also loves a weekend sleep in which I greatly appreciate as his human” laughs Ashleigh. “He snores and sighs and seems pretty content to me.”
And while he still isn’t 100% keen on other dogs, his reactivity and freezing continue to improve.
It was a quick and exciting adoption process for Ashleigh, who had completed an abundance of research on what’s involved in rescuing a hound.
“He came into my life just when I needed him and I couldn’t be more thankful” says Ashleigh.
