Jade (cat friendly) (homed)

Jade has found her forever home with a cat, chickens and a wonderful family.

Her foster says the following about her:

“We are into our second week with Jade in foster care. She has been delightful from day one. She is quiet, intelligent and cooperative. It seems she was already house trained. We have had no toileting accidents and she goes to the door when she wants to go out. She sleeps through the night without a problem. We have put a dog bed in our bedroom and she has learned to stay on it through the night. She wears her fleece pyjamas to keep warm. At other times we allow her onto our bed for a cuddle but she is content on her own bed when the lights go out.

She is indoors most of the day too, although we go out for a few short walks and sometimes a “zoomie” with our whippet. Our whippet has never met a dog who could keep up with her before and they have fun together.

Jade is a cat lover and our cat loves her too. Our cat rubs around Jade’s legs, under her belly, and lays with her in the sun. They bump noses regularly and seem to be good friends. I suspect that Jade has lived with cats before as she knew how to behave from the first introduction. When we go out we are totally confident leaving Jade, our whippet and our cat all locked inside together. So far, the longest time spent “home alone” has been 5 hours but I am confident that she could cope with a longer time.

When Jade arrived she was very keen for human company. If we went outdoors, leaving her in, she whimpered. She settled after a couple of days though and now seems fine. If she were to be adopted by a working couple then I would suggest that she start on a Friday night, so that she could settle over the weekend and be ready to be left by Monday. She seems to love everyone and has gone to anyone who has been to our house, whether our friends, neighbours or delivery people. We think she would settle quite comfortably with anyone who treated her nicely.

We’ve been brushing her to get rid of her heavy coat. She is looking glossy now and not shedding much fur.

As time has gone on Jade has seemed to relax more and become a little more playful. She loves a squeaky hamburger that we have here and late afternoon is the time for a bounce, whether indoors or out. She plays with our whippet but they lay around together most of the day.

Jade is a very sensible dog and will cooperate once she understands what we want. She has learned to wait to have her feet wiped when coming inside and is starting to respond to her name. I don’t think she had any idea that she was called Jade when we first brought her home. She is happy to travel in the car and will hop into the back whenever it is opened. All in all, fostering Jade has been very easy.”

Jade is a real softie, she would benefit and flourish from a human to love her!

And she travels so well! Verity and I took her and 3 others out and about today and she very happily lay down on the back seat of my car with kennel mate King and both were perfectly behaved on both trips! A pleasure to transport and to spend time with!

Jade is a wonderful little girl. A perfect companion. A real happy little smoocher. She would be my pick if I could have another little girl. (one grey is never enough ).

I’m looking forward to spending more time with her.
