Barney (homed)

Hi! I’m Barney and I’m a pretty cool dude and all-round loveable goofball. I’ve been living it up in foster care and discovering just how much I love seeking out pats – they’re the best! I’m a gentle boy and I’m fine with children as long as they’re a bit older. I’m still learning about small fluffy creatures at the moment but I’m happy to have another greyhound friend to chill out with!

A note from Barney’s foster carers:

He loves toys, his bed, pats. He’ll just stand next to you if you keep patting him and has been coming out of his shell and getting a bit demanding which is amazing! He loves ear, neck and chest scratches.

He’s a bit lazy and loves laying down but will engage with toys and treats when you ask / encourage. He’s a good listener and gets up when we want to put his coat on and responds well to his name if he’s barking in the backyard for some reason.
He’s good on walks and his confidence has skyrocketed when manoeuvring over and up rocks and likes getting his feet wet! Happy to come home and sleep when we get home, you can tell he gets tired half way through the walk and never pulls with the harness. He’s very good on lead and listens.

When we’ve seen other dogs he has reacted with a bark (especially if they’re barking at him) but we took him for a walk the other day and he ignored chickens (he was walking on the other side of me and was happy to keep walking with me on a short leash). However on the walk there were a few dogs that were barking at him through fences and he barked back and tried to stand still but didn’t pull me off my feet and let us walk off with some redirection. He’d be so good with a older person – he’s very lazy, VERY gentle and would be happy with a walk around the block. Very cute and good boy!
