Nyx

Hi! I’m Nyx – nice to meet you! I’m a happy go lucky and friendly guy who’s not really shy about asking for some attention. I’m also not shy about asking for some toys – in fact I just can’t get enough of them! I don’t mind whether they’re for squeaking, bouncing, tug-of-war or chewing – they’re all so much fun!! If you take me home, I would be so happy if there are plenty of toys I can play with!

I’ve not seen much of this big wide world, so I’d love a home where I can discover all of these new and exciting things at my own pace. Maybe if you’ve got a yard for me to stretch my legs, that might be nice too.

Speaking of new things, I met a small dog the other day, and I don’t think I’d be keen to live with one of those but I think another big dog for company might be nice! I also LOVE my food almost as much as I love my toys, so I’d love a home that can accommodate my needs… and of course my toys!

Got room on your couch for a handsome chap like me? Get in touch at info@greyhoundrescue.com.au or fill in an application form.

No grey area: NSW government must fund dogs charity – Peter FitzSimons

Read the article on SMH »

You and me, babe. You’ll recall we got into the whole greyhound thing back in 2015 after the mighty Four Corners exposé of the horrors of live-baiting, and we not only supported the Baird government banning it, but were loudly appalled a couple of years ago when they caved in after all. But then our attention shifted, didn’t it? We went on to other things, and while we were out some of the industry went back to their old ways.

It’s tax time… boost your refund and help a hound!

End of Financial Year Greyhound Rescue Donations

Tina here has been busy reviewing the figures now that the end of financial year is almost here, and she thinks Greyhound Rescue could really use your help.

Here at Greyhound Rescue, we receive no official funding, and our vet bills, kennel bills, food bills and more just keep on mounting. Yes, we know you’ve heard this before, but try as she might, Tina just can’t balance the books. There’s so much money going out and not enough coming in, which is exactly where YOU come in.

An end of financial year donation will not only help us (so, so much), it will actually help you, too. Donations at this time of year allow you to reduce your taxable income. Plus, it’s no secret that giving simply makes you feel good – by giving a small donation,  you get warm fuzzy feelings by helping to keep our fuzzy hounds warm!

So when you’re finalising things for the end of the tax year, please spare a thought for Tina’s fellow houndies, who haven’t been as lucky as her and are waiting patiently for their forever homes.

The easiest way for you to help is via bank transfer or PayPal.

Account Name:  Greyhound Rescue Inc
BSB: 012 289
Account No: 524 792 379
Reference: EOFY Donation

If you do a bank transfer, please also email peter@greyhoundrescue.com.au to let us know you’ve donated.

The hounds thank you!

Help fix baby Astro’s deformed leg

Poor little six-month-old Astro has arrived at Greyhound Rescue with a severely deformed leg, leaving him unable to walk properly. We are committed to getting him the care he needs so he can live his best possible life! Despite his setback, he’s still a bright and effervescent pup.

Astro will be able to live a normal life and walk without discomfort after some pretty complex surgery. The healing process will be long and potentially tricky, but he should recover well. This surgery needs to be done ASAP before his bones have the chance to grow further with the deformity. He is being well looked after by our dedicated volunteers and his medical team, but the road to recovery will be delicate and everyone has their fingers crossed for no complications.

We need to raise $4000 to cover the costs of Astro’s surgery and recovery. Greyhound Rescue relies on the generosity of donors like you to help us do what we do; saving puppies like little Astro who otherwise wouldn’t be given a chance.

From kennel shifts, paperwork, marketing, PR, social media, home visits, vet trips, events and fundraising, and everything else – we are a volunteer-run organisation. Typically, our volunteers will always tell you what Greyhound Rescue means to them and how much they love volunteering and love the dogs. Well, we’re here to say that to Greyhound Rescue, our volunteers mean everything.

Cheeky

Hi there, I’m Cheeky and my mission in life is to be your best friend (and sleep on your couch). I’ve matured as I’ve grown older and developed some manners however I still like to go by the name of Cheeky or Sweet Cheeks.

I am a lively and happy girl who is learning to play and socialise. I much prefer humans so please don’t make me hang around with any of those furry things you call cats or dogs. I’m well behaved with older children who can give me pats and treats.

I’m a rather stylish girl. When I’m not wearing the latest fashion out of Milan, I’m dressed in my sleek black coat. Not to toot my own horn, but you won’t believe how shiny and soft it is. I wear a boot when I go walking, but don’t worry it goes with my outfit. I’m a country girl at heart who prefers some peace and quiet out of the big city.

If you’re looking for a stylish friend like me, get in touch at info@greyhoundrescue.com.au or fill in an application form.

How about a free bag of SavourLife dog food with your adoption? Just make your enquiry via Cheeky’s SavourLife profile. For every finalised adoption, SavourLife will give Greyhound Rescue a donation and you a free bag of food!

Earl

Hi, my name is Earl…. Earl Grey, that is! I’m a strikingly handsome boy with the shiniest black coat you will ever see. Maybe that’s why the vollies like to joke that ‘Earl gets the girls!’

Despite my fancy title, I’m a happy boy and I don’t come with a big list of demands. My needs are pretty simple really: a warm bed, abundant toys, and a backyard for me to stretch my legs. Oh, and plenty of pats – I’m definitely not shy about asking for those! My favourite thing in the world is tummy rubs – if you take me home, get ready for me to ask you for lots of them!

I like kids and get along well with other greyhounds, I’m just not much of a fan of those small-fluffy things they call dogs so none of those please!

If you’re looking for a happy chappy like me, get in touch at info@greyhoundrescue.com.au or fill in an application form.

How about a free bag of SavourLife dog food with your adoption? Just make your enquiry via Earl’s SavourLife profile. For every finalised adoption, SavourLife will give Greyhound Rescue a donation and you a free bag of food!
