Oscar’s Story

In mid August 2009 not that long after Greyhound Rescue began, Jan and Peter collected a very big, just 2 year old, black boy with a white stripe down his face from Kurri Kurri pound. He had a very bad foot, presumably why he’d been dumped by racing, and required an extensive operation, which was paid for by the charity and donations. This dog was called Oscar.

Oscar was listed on our website and PetRescue on 19 August 2009 and went into the kennels. And there he waited. And waited, and waited. He spent some time in foster care but ended up back in kennels. Bronwyn from PetClix was enlisted to take some great photos of him and the other kennel dogs. They found homes, and Oscar still waited.

Well, it is now over 3 years since Oscar arrived. He is now 5 years old. And FINALLY he has found someone who wants to love him for the big, affectionate, boisterous galumph that he is. Rachel, we are so thrilled that you have taken Oscar, and also little Jenny (who has been in kennels since February), to be your forever hounds. Thank you from all the volunteers in Greyhound Rescue community. We look forward to seeing many happy family photos in the months and years to come. Be happy Big Boy. And for good measure here are two words we have wanted to write for 3 years: “Oscar- Homed”!
