Helping a Hound Program

Many people are not in a position to foster or adopt a greyhound, but would still like to help. A ‘greyt’ way to do this is to help out one of our hounds in need with an ongoing donation via our Helping a Hound program.

You might not be aware of the expenses that go into rescuing a greyhound. Greyhound Rescue provides all medical care for the animals in our rescue, as well as their toys, bowls, treats, collars and leashes. The price tag to care for an animal in our kennels can really add up quickly. By supporting one of our hounds, you have a chance to make a real difference to the care and rehoming of these beautiful dogs.

“Being a supporter makes us feel good, knowing we are helping the hounds at the shelter.”
– Greg & Jeannine, GR Supportors

Helping a hound couldn’t be easier!

All you need to do is take a look at our Dogs Available section. Choose a hound and decide on an ongoing amount you’d like to support them with (minimum $10 per week). Those that don’t have supporters yet have a ‘I’m looking for a supporter’ note on their profile.

Email our wonderful Help a Hound Program Co-Ordinators at with the name of the hound you’d like to help, your ongoing support amount. Our team will then be in touch to confirm and finalise your Helper status and give you details on how to set up your ongoing payments.

The Greyhounds will continue to thank you!

As our way of saying thank you for your generous ongoing support, you will receive:

  • A thank you card with a photo of the hound you’re helping that we’re sure will take pride of place in your home
  • Recognition of your support on your hound’s website profile
  • Regular updates on their progress

Greyhound Rescue is a registered charity and all donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
