Homer and Woody’s new home

Homer(black) and Woody(brindle) have found a beautiful home with Jenny and Malcolm and their two children. These are two lucky greyhounds and Jenny writes of them:

‘Homer has found his forever home with us and we couldn’t be happier. He loves his daily walks and especially loves to cuddle on the lounge with us. He is such an affectionate boy, and I get woken every morning by him licking my toes. Very Cute. I couldn’t imagine our home without him.

Woody has found his forever home with us. We fell in love with this amazing “Big Boy” the moment we met him. We have nicknamed him “Whip it”, because we get whipped by his wagging tail when he greets us. He is definitely a Velcro Hound, always following us around.’

Alfie

Alfie has found his forever home.

Alfie is located: Central Coast – NSW. (Ph) 0424 754 231 or (e) topkatt@hotmail.com

Ex-racer Alfie has had a rough start to life and was rescued on the day he was due to be euthanaised when his foster carers knew he would make a fabulous, gentle companion. Alfie’s background papers, which were filled out when he was placed with the RSPCA stated that he is good with small children & other dogs, which his foster carers can attest to.

Currently in foster care with two small white fluffy dogs, whom he enjoys playing and sleeping with. He would also be great as an only dog for someone who is home a lot. He likes to remind you that little walks are good for the soul and may prod you with a bark at the front door. Should the lead come out, he will reward you with a wriggly body and a doggy smile.

He walks well on a lead, is confident and is easy to train in other areas. He loves car trips & all outings and is toilet trained. He has learnt to play and will chase a tennis ball & sometimes even bring them back! Mostly he enjoys sleeping with his beloved squeaky toy and he is not a fussy eater. Alfie has also recently begun to trust that his foster carer is not really going to drown him when being given a bath and shows his appreciation of feeling cleby doing “happy laps” around the lounge room.

Alfie is:

*  3 years old

*  desexed

* microchipped

*  vaccinated

*  heartworm tested

*  costs $300

Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings, Belrose

Xmas shoppers and a beautiful, fine day kept us very busy from 8am until 3pm by which time we had sold out of everything. An exhausting day but very rewarding and it produced some much needed funds.

Thank you to all those who helped behind the stall and thank you to all those who bought our sausage sandwiches and drinks to help support Greyhound Rescue.

Dixie (Homed)

DIXIE HAS FOUND  HER FOREVER HOME

Dixie is a gentle, very people oriented dog. She’s quite an active girl for a greyhound – medium energy – and loves to play with dogs of all ages and sizes. Dixie is very responsive to learning new things, if she doesn’t know something she’s always keen to give it a try! She hasn’t been tested with cats but has been non reactive to other small pets. She loves small and large children and is very gentle with them. She adores playing fetch, especially with squeaky toys, and will play all day if she can! She walks beautifully on a lead and really enjoys going out, for either a relaxed stroll or a brisk jog. Her tail never stops wagging, at home and when she’s out meeting people and dogs. She is fully housetrained and equally at home lounging indoors as playing in the backyard.

Dixie is being fostered at Gunning near Canberra.

Dixie is:

*  4 years old(dob Feb 2006)

*  desexed

*  vaccinated

*  microchipped

*  heartworm tested

*  costs $300

Greyhounds on ‘Death Row’

Update on 24.12.10

Of the 15 original greyhounds there are now only 4 needing help. The immediate danger of these greyhounds being PTS is over but we still need foster carers for these 4. Please help if you can.

These greyhounds were taken by a Council and are currently impounded. With Xmas, both Pounds and kennels are overflowing and these greys are taking up much needed space.

PS  The greyhounds are situated in Sydney, but if interstate help is available please also contact us on 02 9453 0602 or 0412 562 104

If you are not in a position to help with fostering/adopting, you might consider a donation to help with the expenses the 15 are incurring.
