April is Adopt a Greyhound Month!

April is ‘Adopt-a-Greyhound Month’, and the perfect time to welcome one of these adorable couch potatoes into your household.

Cheeky Max, pictured, is just one of these greyhounds in need of a loving home. A former racer, this affectionate boy today loves nothing more than a good old cuddle, not to mention the occasional pile of laundry to climb upon and snooze the day away.

During April, Greyhound Rescue is offering a discounted adoption fee of just $250 instead of $350 per hound. With this important fee, we can pay for these beautiful dogs to have a full health check and be de-sexed, vaccinated and heartworm tested.

If you’re interested in adopting a greyhound this April, please complete our application form. The information you provide helps us match individual greyhounds with the best possible household for them, hopefully ensuring a perfect match each time.

We are a registered charity and rely solely on donations, which are tax-deductible. If you’re unable to adopt, foster a dog, or physically volunteer, why not consider sponsoring a hound, or purchasing some of our merchandise? Every cent helps us find more greyhounds loving homes all year round.

Blaze

Hi, I’m Blaze – a handsome dude with a cool name. I’m very new to this whole rescue caper so I’m currently learning how to use my manners to be a pet. The volunteers say that I’m very good at ‘stubborn greyhound tricks’… mostly something called ‘greyhound brakes’ when I’m out walking…how rude! I just like to stop to look around so my walk never ends! My interests include snacking, toys, and taste testing. Did I mention food? Just in case you missed it I LOVE food! My second great love is running around with my toys – so if you’ve got a yard for me to play in, that would be just greyt!

I would suit an experienced owner because of these stubborn greyhound tricks, so you can teach me to become the perfect pet! I’m a dude that likes my own space and doesn’t like to share the limelight so I need a pad that will let me be top dog. Those small fluffy things cramp my style too, so none of those, please!

Rosie (homed)

Hi there, I’m Rosie – happy girl with a bounce in her step and a smile to match.  I’m a lovely, affectionate girl and just love some good downtime for a scratch and a cuddle. That doesn’t mean I don’t love a good zoomie now and then, I’m just happiest when I’m hanging out with humans. Being the lovely polite girl that I am, I get on really well with all other dogs I meet.

Freddie (homed)

Hi, I’m Freddie. I have to tell you up front that my best attribute is being the world’s best kisser! There’s no way you’re getting to meet me without a good lick up the chops first! I’m a VERY affectionate boy and all-round loveable goofball who’s looking for someone that I can smooch up to, so I hope you’re ready to pucker up. When I’m not trying to smooch on everyone, I love just lazing around or having a good play with my toys. I’m also really into making new doggy friends, and I’m happy to hang with all dogs – big and small!

Ninja (homed)

Hi! I’m Ninja… they probably called me that because I’ll sneak right into your heart and then BOOM you won’t be able to let me go. I’m a calm, happy go lucky kind of guy. I’m also sweet natured and cuddly and I just love to play – that’s how you know you will fall in love with me (it’s those secret Ninja skills at work). I’ve been very polite with all of the other greyhounds I’ve met here at GR HQ, so if you’ve got a friend for me that would be just greyt!

Ripley (homed)

Hi there, I’m Ripley and I’m very talented at being lazy! Really, if they were giving out prizes for couch potatoes, I’d hands-down be the first place winner. You can coax me out of bed with the promise of food, or a squeaky toy… mostly for cuddles though – I’ll definitely get up for a cuddle. My calm nature means that I’ve been sociable with all of the other hounds I’ve met here at Greyhound Rescue. They’ve even convinced me to have a play – but back to my bed shortly afterwards for a nap… you can’t expend too much energy you know!

Beyonce (homed)

Hi there, I’m Beyonce but my friends call me Queen B. Unlike my namesake, I don’t come with a long list of demands for my star turn as a pet – a few toys, a comfy bed, a short walk every day… maybe even a couch for me to get comfy on with my new family… ok, if you really want to throw in some juicy baked chicken like the original Queen B demands – I definitely won’t complain! I’m a sweet and affectionate girl that makes fast friends with everyone I meet. I’m also a very social girl who gets on well with all the other dogs I’ve met so far, even those small barky things they call dogs.

Luke

Hi there, I’m Luke and I’m definitely the droid, er – I mean hound that you’re looking for. I’ve filled the role of class clown here at Greyhound Rescue. I’m a goofy, playful, and affectionate boy with a real zest for life. I like toys and cuddles and playing with water and cuddles and zoomies… oh, did I mention cuddles? My enthusiasm may be a little bit much for wee little kids, but otherwise, I’m an all-round happy go lucky guy.

Cheeky (homed)

Hi there, I’m Cheeky and my mission in life is to be your friend! I’m a happy, friendly girl who really does want to be friends with everyone. I’m also a rather stylish girl, I’m always very well dressed in my sleek black coat, really not to toot my own horn, but you won’t believe how shiny and soft my coat is – besides, black never goes out of fashion so you’ll always look super stylish with me on your arm. I’ve been very friendly with all of the greyhounds that I’ve met here so far, but I’d love a home where I can be pampered without those small fluffy things they call dogs.
