Ralph (Homed)

Ralph is in foster in Wagga, and this is what his foster mum has to say about him:

Ralph is a gentle and clever boy, a bit older and wiser, and therefore
very quick to learn. He’s a big boy and quite handsome, with his glossy
black coat and white toes and throat, big dark eyes, and very silly
floppy ears. He’s got an easygoing, confident personality, and likes
meeting new people. He goes nuts for his squeaky toys and can entertain
himself quite happily with them. He soaks up attention like a sponge,
and is always happy to lean against your legs and cuddle. Things he
loves most: zoomies and playing fetch in the back yard, snoozing in a
sprawl across his comfy bed, being brushed, and gazing up at you
adoringly while you pet him.

Ralph has lovely lead manners, although he pulls slightly since his
stride is so long. He gets a bit anxious when he’s separated from you,
but he still remembers his manners and doesn’t climb on furniture while
your back is turned. He’s slightly more energetic than some greyhounds
and definitely loves to run if he gets a chance, although he still
prefers to snooze his days away.”

Bruno (Homed)

Bruno is kindly sponsored by Teresa.

“Hi I’m Bruno and I love to zip around the yard playing with my new toys! The volunteers have been teaching me to play catch and I can’t believe that I’ve been missing out on! I might be big and black, but please don’t hold that against me, I’m a very good boy with plenty of personality, I just need somebody to want to get to know me. Just maybe, if you like a game of backyard cricket, I could be your fielder? I hear that some families like to do that – are you one of them? You are?! Well get in touch with my manager…I mean the volunteers! I could be the next sports hero lying on the couch at your place! Contact info@greyhoundrescue.com.au”

Titus (Homed)

Titus is kindly sponsored by Jade.

“Hi I’m Titus and I’m named after a Roman Emperor doncha know… my nose would make a pretty good profile on a coin if I do say so myself! I’m only a baby still –  energetic, fun loving, and playful – but true to my breed I’m pretty nifty at lounging around as well. What I need is somebody in search of adventure – I like looking for buried treasure in the runs and if I had my way I’d be out looking around a whole lot more. The trouble is, I’m in this pesky place called kennels. I’m very grateful to GR for saving me, and I love all the volunteers, but I would really like to get out. Kennels are no place for a young boy like me to finish growing up in. I would probably be better with kiddies over 10 as I am quite a solid boy, but I would work very hard to please you.”

If you would like more info on Titus or any of our patiently waiting hounds then please contact us info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Annie (Homed)

Annie is in foster with Kimberley and family:
Annie is:
  • 5 years old DOB TBC
  • Desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm tested and treated
  • Located in Sydney
  • Not cat tolerant
  • Adoption cost $350
“Annie is a timid 5 year old red-fawn girl who is slowly learning to come out of her shell. She’s had a bit of a rough start to life and has some nasty scars on her body, but we think this just gives her extra character. Besides, look at that pretty face! She’s a quiet girl and would suit a single person, couple, or family with older children. Due to her past, she is really needing some rest and TLC in a calm home where she can relax and have her own space from time to time. She’s very good with being home alone during the day and as long as she’s had a walk and given a bone or something to keep her occupied, she’s fine to be alone during the 9-5 shift. She’s also very well house trained and usually only needs to be let out 2-3 times a day. She’s also just learnt to navigate the staircase!
Annie is just starting to get more curious on walks, is eager to go to new places and doesn’t get as startled by people as she used to. She still freezes from time to time when she gets a bit nervous, which is her way of saying “it’s time to go back to the couch now!”
She’s meeting lots of dogs and is playing very well at off leash dog parks. She gets on well with dogs of all breeds, ages and sizes, however if she were to live with another dog she would suit a house mate with a calm energy who is past the puppy stage. She’s very accepting of pats from strangers and has gotten used to having lots of people over at one time.
She’s a quiet lady of leisure and really just likes to cuddle on the couch. She loves to be patted, stroked and cuddled and really enjoys being brushed with a grooming mitt. While a bit of a couch potato, she’s slightly more energetic in the morning and in the late afternoon which is when she likes to go for her daily walks – she only needs about 15 minutes per walk before she’s ready to go home! She’s still learning how to play and likes to chase the ball on occasion, however once she gets to it she usually gives it a puzzled look!
Annie is a gorgeous girl with a kind soul who really deserves a comfy couch and lots of cuddles for the rest of her life. If you’re after a kind hearted and gentle companion who’s easy on the eyes, look no further!”

Gus (Homed)

Gus is a big sooky boy that needs somebody who cans see past his size and into his loving heart! He is excellent with children, and his foster carer Belinda writes:

“Gus is living with myself, my husband Gavin and sons Jack 9 & Charlie 7.

Although Gus is a huge 40kg he is a big softie who loves attention and enjoys playing with his toys.

In between sleeping he is often following us around waiting for a cuddle and loves to lean against you whilst doing so.

Gus gets on great with our Greyhound Missy and has been friendly with everyone he has met.

Gus walks well on the lead only pulling slightly probably due to his long stride.”

Fergus (Homed)

Fergus is currently in foster in Canberra, and this is what his foster carer says about him:

“Fergus is a grand old man of 10.  He may a bit slow and unsteady on his feet sometimes, but when he bounds over to greet you when you come home, his smiley face and waggy tail just melt your heart.  If you need or want somebody to snooze the day away, Fergus is your man.  A little bit of exercise keeps him happy (and he is well behaved on the lead), but his favourite activity is chilling out.  He is used to his foster mum being away for long hours at work. He can “hold” for hours overnight, and loves a sleep-in on the weekends. ”

Scout (Homed)

Scout is kindly sponsored by Sandra.

“I’m Scout and I’m a blue goofy greyhound scouting for my new home. I was pretty happy to arrive at GR and find the volunteers were eager to throw toys for me in the nice big run and get a kick out of my comical performance. I do the happy dance and do the twist and shake while I run because I can’t decide what I should be doing at any moment – I’m just so happy to be doing anything and everything! There’s a lot of other houndies besides me at the moment, and we all want to find our forever family pretty soon. If you think you have room for one of us at your place can you get in touch with the volunteers at GR? It’s pretty full at the moment and they really would like to save some more of us!” info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Bowie (Homed)

Bowie is kindly sponsored by Nerida.

“I’m Bowie, and just like David Bowie I’m a pretty glam kinda guy looking for a place I can hang out and call my own. With my sleek physique and good looks I’ll turn heads wherever you take me, but I’ll be happy just snuggling on the couch to you too. I’m pretty cruisy except when it comes to cats, but not everybody invites them to the party so if you’re cool with that then maybe I can come home with you? To find out more about me or my pals patiently waiting at kennels please get in touch with the volunteers info@greyhoundrescue.com.au”

Pickles (Homed)

Pickles is kindly sponsored by Karen.

“I’m Pickles by name and pickles by nature…I’m a black greyhound and I like to have fun! There’s nothing better than doing zoomies around the yard, chasing toys, and showing off how fast I can move! I’m looking for a family that wants to have plenty of fun too. I get a bit too excited around cats so it would be best if your house doesn’t have any of those. Meh, who needs a cat when you could have me? Did I mention I’m just a little pickle? I’m quite small, and I wouldn’t take up much room. The problem is, there’s lots of cute greyhounds at Greyhound Rescue at the moment, and a lot of them are black too. We always get picked last if we’re black, I guess we just don’t stand out enough. But I bet you would like a shiny black greyhound though wouldn’t you? You would?! Well if you think I might pickle…I mean tickle your fancy can you get onto the computer and email the volunteers at GR? They would love to hear from you!” info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Remi (Cat Tolerant) (Homed)

Remi is kindly sponsored by Sue.

” I’m Remi and I’m small and cute as a button! I don’t take up much room, I quite like kids, and I passed my cat test so I have the potential to live with kitties if you have either of those at your house.I love to play quite a lot and consider myself a bit of a puppy still. I would much rather race around a garden or race to the couch than race around a track. Do you have a couch I could put my paws on? I hear every greyhound needs one of those and I haven’t been on one yet, and I’m only nearly three. My birthday is in May, so maybe you could give me one as a birthday present? You could? Quick! Get onto those volunteers at GR info@greyhoundrescue.com.au”
