Christmas Donations at Vineyard Vets

vineyard vets xmas

Dr Rob Zammit (Uncle Rob to the houndies)  and the team at Vineyard Vets have supported Greyhound Rescue for many years. As our main vet clinic, they assist us every week whether it is a routine desexing or something a lot more serious such as Fleur’s leg amputation, or Murray’s femural head and neck resection this year. We are very grateful to have such wonderful vets close by that have made a huge difference to the hounds, and willing to try just about anything!

This year they are supporting us again with their Christmas appeal. You can leave a gift for the houndies, or make a donation and place a bauble on their tree. Just pop in to the clinic 703 Winsdor Rd Vineyard or call (02) 9627 1257.

Thankyou Vineyard Vets!

Katharine (Homed)

Katharine is currently in foster with Corinne and doggy foster brother Bond.

Katharine has been living in a home and is well acquainted with being a pet. She could not stay where she is as she is unfortunately not cat friendly. She is people and dog friendly though, and is great with kids!  She is a low maintenance very sweet natured girl, who adores cuddles and is lovely to walk.  She is playful and loves squeaky toys and playing fetch.  Her favourite place to sleep is on the lounge on your lap and is often found belly up and very comfy.  We have it on good authority she fancies herself as a taste tester as she is an excellent counter surfer! This won’t be a problem if no food is left out for inquisitive snouts.   She is a happy girl who needs a loving home.

Her foster family writes “What a friendly, cuddly and playful girl.  She is very eager to say hello to all the neighbourhood dogs and children and gets very excited to go for her morning and afternoon walks.  She loves to play fetch, and gets really excited about outrunning Bond, even if he’s almost a third bigger than her.  When on a walk, her favourite thing to do is look as far as she can and see if she can spot a bunny. When satisfied that all the bunnies are gone, she’s happy to turn around and head back home for breakfast or dinner.  If you don’t mind a couch surfing dog, she’ll warm up a spot but is also very respectful and will learn quickly where she should not lie down.  She’s an early riser and up with daylight so best you be the kind of person who likes a morning walk.”

If you think you might have the perfect home and lap for Katharine please contact us! info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Hendrix (Homed)

Hendrix is kindly sponsored by Jenny.

“I’m Hendrix and I’m  and ready to roll anytime you like! With my adventurous spirit and charisma many will look past me as I’m just a bit misunderstood… I can’t help wanting to enjoy life’s ride and take whatever’s on offer, I’m young and carefree! Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a good time, but I’m just as good  to lay back and groove on a rainy day with you if you’ll let me. I just need somebody who understands me. I promise I’ll be a good boy, I’ll give you all the love in the world and then some more…we can take walks in the park together, go for fun runs, and I heard watching movies is just the thing to do on a couch.  If you’ve got a spare seat at your place and a big enough heart to take on a handsome but often overlooked black boy like me please get in touch with the volunteers info@greyhoundrescue.com.au”

Jagger (Homed)

Jagger is kindly sponsored by Alexandria, Mali & Susan.

Jagger here is one of three young brothers that have arrived at GR.

“I’m Jagger and I like to think of myself as the frontman when it comes to a bit of good hearted mischief! I like good times, fun times, playtimes, and cuddletimes. I’m a mover and a shaker and being so young I have my whole life ahead of me. What I’m after is somebody who will gimme some shelter, a bit of guidance, and always be ready for an adventure – I have a nose for that, just follow my lead! If you think you might be the one who will be charmed by my good looks and loving, then you need to give my managers a call! Email the team info@greyhoundrescue.com.au”

Cricket (Homed)

Cricket is sponsored by Nina, Luke & Michele.

“My name is Cricket and if you’re a cricket fan, have you ever thought about having your own greyhound named Cricket? If ever there was a dog to match your summer I am the one! I love playing games in the (cricket) runs, and having a splash in the pool to cool off afterwards. I am very good natured and affectionate, I might not be able to bat  or bowl, but if you do it for me I’m sure I will win you the fastest runs as I gleefully bound down the grassy pitch. (Editor’s Note: Whether or not he runs between your particular game’s stumps or keeps going to someone else’s remains to be seen… perhaps just keep him as a fielder) For a serious game I will be happy to accept the post as the twelfth man on the sidelines ensuring the couch doesn’t fly away, and sampling afternoon tea. This is a very important and underrated job! I don’t really like cats, but if felines aren’t your ball game either you may have found your perfect match! I would be best suited to a home without any other dogs – I like being the centre of attention just like other sports celebrities. Did I mention I’ve been to a few stalls with the volunteers? Everybody loves me – I just wish one of you would take me home!”

If Cricket sounds like the greyhound for you please get in touch info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Dazza (Homed)

Dazza is kindly sponsored by Shane &  Emma.

“My name is Dazza and prepared to be dazzled by ME! I’m a super cute red fawn boy and I’m looking for a family that will help me bust outta here so we can go and have some fun. I’m under two years old and I’m very playful. I’m looking forward to going on walks, and meeting new people, and going to the park, and playing with toys…and…and…I’m just busting to meet you! I forgot to mention that I’m very good at cuddles and I like to bury my snout in your jacket. And also give your butt and pants a good sniff to see where you’ve been. Now I have been told that this isn’t very polite, but how else am I supposed to know what is in the big wide world while I’m stuck in here huh? There’s a lot of houndies waiting for homes at the moment, so if you think you have room on the couch for a greyhound (or even room on the floor for just one more if you think you can foster!) please get in touch with the volunteers info@greyhoundrescue.com.au.”

Wilson (Homed)

Wilson is sponsored by Danielle!

Wilson the wonderful here is ready to enjoy a forever family that will adore him. Suavely dressed in black (and that goes with with everything doncha know!) and stunning good looks he likes to try his charm with the ladies. He is compatible with medium to large dogs but  after his initial cat test he has since changed his mind, and would prefer not to hang out with cats or small dogs. He is quite an animated boy, and would benefit from a firm owner who would put some time into obedience training as he likes to get into everything he can poke his snout into!  He has a cheeky charm and adorable face,  if Wilson sounds like the comrade for you please contact us info@greyhoundrescue.com.au

Tootsie (Homed)

Tootsie is kindly sponsored by Sue.

“Hello I’m Tootsie and I’m looking for a home where I can be footloose and fancy free! I like to be in the spotlight and getting everyone’s attention  (some of us are just made to be stars after all). I adore humans but I have no patience for cats or small dogs and I hear there are some people that feel the same way. Please tell me you are one of those? I will be the first to admit that it is a tall order to be the only subject of devotion – but let’s be honest if you adopted me it would be a very easy thing to do! I am always on the lookout for an opportunity to have a good time, but I am just as comfy getting my beauty sleep if you are busy earning (so that you can keep me in the manner to which I hope to grow accustomed of course!) If you don’t mind a companion that will give you a bit of cheek, love you to bits, and look stunning by your side get in touch with my agents…er, I mean volunteers…. info@greyhoundrescue.com.au”
